Our client, one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada, has an immediate need for a TSP – Junior Data Engineer. This is a contract position for one (1) year located in Burnaby, British Columbia

 Description

Junior Engineer who is interested in Asset Management and data management for Asset Data to join a team of engineers and provide analyst & coordinator functions for the department & asset data. This position supports the Transmission Sustainment Planning team in managing asset data and information, and in performing analyst and coordinator functions for the department.

 Accountabilities

  • Support the compilation of asset data and information for the transmission system and related assets, including tracking work status and completion of projects and programs, and reporting to the team the overall progress of asset programs.
  • Performs asset data querying, analytics, mapping, and reporting for the team to support ongoing and evolving business needs.
  • Performing quality and work completion checks against asset data submissions from project and program teams.
  • Checks project acceptance data submissions on behalf of the program engineers.
  • Track and update asset population counts, demographics, and statistics as necessary.
  • Tracks and updates unit costs for the transmission sustainment work programs in consultation with Program and Contract Management (PCM)
  • Supports the planning engineers in the development of the annual and 10-year maintenance and capital plans.
  • Works as a subject matter expert and power user for the transmission asset data systems (PowerGrid GIS, STARR, TLDS, and Collector Patrol Map), and supports the team in the ongoing administration and enhancements of those systems.
  • Performs querying of business systems as necessary (including Passport and SAP)
  • Performs specialized data entry and mapping tasks as necessary to support the team (including update of transmission line ratings data, entry of PGTAR asset data, entry and curation of mapping datasets, and the creation on demand of maps, charts, and data products for the team as necessary)

 Required

  • Must have 2+ years experience in Engineering
  • Must have P.Eng or be a registered EIT
  • Experience with transmission asset data & systems is preferred (PowerGrid GS, STARR, TLDS etc.)
  • Transmission/powerline experience is preferred
  • Some programming experience is preferred
  • University graduate in applied science or engineering
  • Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards
  • Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Intermediate English skills for professional environment, written and spoken

  Additional Information

  • The resource can work from home to start. Once COVID worksite restrictions are lifted, they will need to work onsite at least 2 days per week in Edmonds.
