Our client, one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada, has an immediate need for a Business Decision Support Professional. This is a contract position for eleven (11) months located in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Description

Experienced functional Business Analyst to do business case reviews and decision analysis in support of both technology projects (such as infrastructure/data centre upgrades) and general technology improvements (such as IT changes). The business cases will range from 250K to $25MM in project value. The ideal candidate will be a functional Business Analyst (NOT a Business Systems Analyst) who has experience reviewing business cases, validating benefits, and working with multiple groups at once for IT/Technology projects.

Accountabilities

  • 1. Provide capacity and backup for business case reviews
  • Investment justification document reviews in support of capital planning and release.
  • Business case reviews and writing assistance in some circumstances
  • Business case document workflow performance management
  • Benefit identification and economic analysis as needed
  • 2. Provide demand management support for IT Advisors, planners, and portfolio leads
  • Surfacing, shaping and capturing demand (from capital planning and delivery processes)
  • Support consolidated forecasting and reporting
  • Support capital meeting: variance explanations, etc.
  • Supporting selection & release prep: IJ’s & cover slides
  • 3. Provide capacity and backup for business case workflow administration and related performance analysis.
  • 4. Business case training
  • Participation in monthly Open House training
  • Training directed to select groups
  • 5. Provide support for benefit management and benefits realization process.
  • Translate business insights into strategic, actionable options by obtaining and organizing key business information, enabling informed decision-making.
  • Facilitate decision-making across diverse groups of stakeholders by using excellent skills in communication, critical thinking, and persuasive influencing to deliver recommendations that align to the business goals.
  • Maintain meaningful business relationships by prioritizing strategic considerations in a complex environment with diverse groups of stakeholders so that projects are implemented as planned.
  • Plan and organize business initiatives by using knowledge in business drivers, risk tolerance, and trade-off processes, to enable successful integration and adoption in complex and regulated environment.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Must have 7+ years experience as a functional Business Analyst
  • Must have demonstrated experience with business case reviews 
  • Must have experience as a Business Analyst in enterprise environments (1000+ employees)
  • Experience with Technology projects (eg. Infra/data centre upgrades or Technology improvement projects for IT change) is preferred
  • Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken

Additional Information

  • The resource can start on a work from home basis. They will be required to work onsite at least 2/3 days per week once covid worksite restrictions are lifted. 
  • They must be located in the lower mainland.
