Our multinational electricity and gas utility company is currently hiring Data Management Lead. The project is based out in Waltham, MA for a contract duration of 10 months. 

Job Purpose

This role provides a vision for business-wide data activities and champions for data ownership and stewardship, standardization, accessibility, and governance for (US) wide gas business unit. This role will develop and maintain the data capture and recording capabilities to a specific area of our Gas Business Domain. Our Data is paramount to ensure our Gas Business Unit as the latest and most accurate data to make decision on the safe integrity of the transmission and distribution systems and transactional data sets including our work on the assets which is consistent with company objectives, strategies, and policies and in full compliance with company, governmental codes, and regulations.

Key Accountabilities Direct:

•        Analyze and monitor all your area related application/data to make sure everything is working correctly and properly and updated when needed.

•        Act as the data lead for your area of focus on data which is not limited to data quality, access to data, and data security and able to relay to our Business/Process Leads the data issue at hand and its remediation.

•        Ensure the data change process is followed for your data area while partnering with our data governance team, the data owners, and the end-to-end data lifecycle to ensure GBE is administered and utilized within each region.

•        Capture the data requirements for the functionalities for the data conversions and the data quality of your area of focus.

•        Coordinate with GBE on deployment team and the governance on the prioritization of the fixes/issues/defects and enhancements/new capabilities.

•        Properly train your area of focus in utilizing Informatica Data Quality scorecards/PowerBI

•        Own and manage data validation processes, resolve weaknesses, and manage risks while managing the IT stakeholders and the Business stakeholders.

•        Ensure all the data artifacts for your areas are up to date (Data Catalog, Data Business Rules Dictionary, Asset Specs, Asset Classifications, Domains, and Measurements).

•        Lead and support to gather functional data requirements for your focused area.

•        Establish and lead Data Governance for your focused area.

Job Dimensions:

•        Team size: Individual Contributor reporting directly to the Director, Data Management & Controls, & Reporting.

•        Ability to work from home.

•        Inventory the gas business unit data assets, inspections/work orders, and other data sets.

•        Establish basic data standards.

•        Establish and execute basic enterprise-wide governance for your area of focus.

•        Ensure a robust and sustainable set of access controls are in place.

•        Update the data catalogs, meta-data, and business glossary.

•        Audit compliance with respect to data management BMS standards including data privacy / data protection.

•        Establish and execute basic enterprise-wide governance for your area of focus.

•        Ensure a robust and sustainable set of access controls are in place.

•        Document the data life-cycle processes, identify, and fill gaps.

•        Provide visibility to stakeholders of available data within the organization and more specifically your area of focus.

•        Lay foundations for a digitally enabled organization.


•        Preferred of an Engineering Bachelor’s degree with 8 years or Master in a Quantitative Domains with 6 or more of experience in:

•        Cloud (preferably Azure)

•        GIS Systems (Prefer knowledge of ArcGIS, ESRI, Lemur)

•        Data Quality (Prefer Einstein Analytics, Informatica)

•        Systems programming (Prefer SQL, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), PowerBI), Databases (Maximo databases)

•        Applications (Salesforce, Field Service Lightning, Maximo).

•        Strategic self-starter with excellent computer and data set skills (Gas Business Enablement)

•        Advocate for data analytics value across a business and to diverse audiences

•        Experience conducting structured business analysis and generating well-defined requirements

•        Experience employing of contemporary data management and maturity assessment frameworks

•        Proficiency in data classification for security, usage, protection, and enterprise communication

•        Self-aware individual who can effectively manage stakeholders and build relationships across all levels and functions

•        Disciplined individual able to prioritize, deliver and delegate

•        Effective communicator able to communicate at all levels within the organization.
