Our Calgary based Integrated Oil company requires an Air Quality Engineer/Advisor to join their team for a one year contract position starting in early January 2019. 

REASON FOR OPENING/PROJECT:

To backfill for contractor that has taken a 12 month leave of absence

TEAM CULTURE:

The Air Quality Engineer/Advisor works under the supervision of a team lead or senior staff member. They receive technical guidance as required, while independently conducting assigned tasks

CANDIDATE VALUE PROPOSITION:

The Air Quality Engineer/Advisor is responsible for the management of air emission estimation and reporting for the Canadian Midstream and Downstream Facilities, as a member of the Mid/Downstream Environmental Operations (MDEO) group within the Corporate Responsibility Department. This position is a resource to Canadian Downstream for planning and implementation of the air emission components of projects undertaken by the business units in all geographic areas of operation. Scope of work includes developing, implementing and documenting methodologies for air emission estimation, provide guidance and quality assurance for air emission reporting for regulatory compliance purposes, coordinate air quality consulting services, and liaise with regulatory bodies on an as needed basis

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement methodologies for air emission estimation to ensure the MDEO facility regulatory compliance on an ongoing basis
  • Conduct configuration changes in ops Info (air emission management software) to maintain it up-to-date and in compliance with emerging regulatory requirements
  • Prepare air emission inventories and documentation for regulatory compliance reporting (e.g. Alberta Air Monitoring Directive)
  • Conduct technical analysis of conventional air pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions in support of corporate environmental reporting, including third-party verification
  • Commission and supervise consultant work for air dispersion modelling, data inventory, environmental approval applications, etc.
  • Support the preparation of MDEO facility applications for environmental approvals, approval amendments and approval renewals
  • Assess the impact of emerging environmental regulations and participate in the developing of mitigation strategies to assists business units in meeting environmental compliance

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • bachelors Degree in Engineering, Science or a related discipline
  • 5 years of experience in air emission estimation and reporting
  • 5 years of experience in air emission issues related to the oil and gas industry
  • 5 years of experience in interpreting and implementing federal and provincial air quality requirements
  • Comprehensive understanding of air quality regulatory requirements and implementation for compliance purposes

NICE TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • masters Degree in Engineering, Science or a related discipline
  • Professional Designation in a related discipline (P.Eng, P.Ag, P.Geol, etc)
  • 2 years of experience interacting with multiple regulatory bodies and jurisdictions
  • Proficiency with air emission management software (e.g. opsInfo)
  • Proficiency with air emission management software (e.g. opsInfo)
