Raise is hiring a Business Analyst for Our Client, a partnership of 12 municipalities – one Electoral Area and one treaty First Nation. That collaboratively plans for and delivers regional-scale services with its core services being drinking water, wastewater treatment and solid waste management. This position is an Eleven (11) month contract, with the potential to be renewed for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, upon mutual agreement and budget approval located in Burnaby, British Columbia. We are actively seeking talented professionals like you to drive these crucial initiatives forward.

Description

The Business Analyst in this role will help support the IT Project Management Office (PMO) with reviewing business cases for new project requests.

Accountabilities

  • Review business cases for new project requests submitted by business stakeholders and get clarification when applicable.
  • Perform detailed discovery of new work items and provide key metrics to IT PMO and IT management for informed decision-making.
  • Work with the IT-PMO team to review/assess current Project Management processes:
  • Bring forward recommendations based on best practices.
  • Look for opportunities for improvement.
  • Continue to build the value the IT-PMO provides to IT and the organization.

Required

  • 6+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst.
  • Experience reviewing and implementing key PMO processes, frameworks and Agile practices.
  • Solid knowledge of information technology components, processes, and application development life cycle.
  • Ability to document, analyze and assess information from various sources, identify priorities and resources and propose alternative business processes.
  • Ability to assist in the development of corporate standards and to perform other administrative tasks related to the work performed.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies and project management principles.
  • Hands-on experience within a Lean/Agile PMO.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or other work management development toolkits is an asset.
  • University graduation at the Bachelor's level in computer sciences, business, or engineering.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and/or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) designations are an asset.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal contacts and to provide advice and assistance on matters related to the work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to present proposals in non-technical language.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to be flexible and highly adaptive in a fast-paced environment.
