Our client who is a leader in the North American Energy market has an immediate need for an Azure™ Cloud Architect to join their team for a four (4) month contract (with a very good chance of extension) based in Calgary.

Job Responsibilities/Description:
A successful candidate must be comfortable working in fast moving and complex enterprise environments. The Cloud Operations and Design team focuses on ensuring availability of the Cloud environment deployed in Microsoft Azure™ and completing deployments of complex solutions into the environment. This environment includes but is not limited to servers (IaaS), DBaaS, functions, containers, messaging and integration technologies, HPC solutions, App Service, AI/ML, DevOps technologies, and storage.

The Azure Cloud Architect will report to the Manager, Cloud Design & Operations and will be tasked with assisting in the design, implementation, management, and support of the Azure environment. The candidate will contribute to the development and maturity of the Azure environment through the design and implementation of high-quality cloud solutions. A strong focus will be placed on cloud lifecycle management, automation, industry best-practices, and ensuring the security and protection of data in the cloud environment.
 

Key Deliverables

  • Create enterprise solution architecture for cloud solutions ranging in complexity from single resource to many resources
  • Assist the operations and applications team(s) where necessary implementing cloud solutions
  • Provide senior level Azure technical support, issue diagnosis and troubleshooting to internal teams and other stakeholders.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple high priority activities and provide creative and effective solutions to problems rapidly, on an ongoing basis.
  • Increase the agility and reduce manual effort through the use of automation.
  • Apply DevOps practices to assist in building IaC capabilities using ARM templates and Azure DevOps.
  • Mentor operations and application team members in the operation and support to the Azure environment.
  • Create documentation for cloud solutions both for internal cloud team use and for other support teams as required
  • Support the creation of a container strategy in Azure utilizing services such as AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), ACI (Azure Container Instances) and/or Web Apps for Containers including the containerization of existing applications
  • Assist in the transition of legacy monolithic application systems to lightweight cloud microservices
  • Assist in the design and implementation of cloud-based integration and orchestration technologies

How this person contributes in the master plan

Our client has created an 18-month roadmap for addressing IT needs focusing heavily on increasing cloud capabilities and retiring legacy systems. This candidate will assist in building these capabilities for IDA project and providing support of the new cloud systems.
 

Required Skills

  • Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent education and 10 years’ experience in IT support positions.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience using Microsoft Azure
  • Microsoft Azure certification (Preferred certification Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision across multiple teams.

    • Experience assessing applications for migration to the cloud with tools such as Azure Migrate
    • Experience designing and implementing a microservices based approach to application systems

    • Strong understanding of the effects of network latency on applications and mitigation strategies that can be applied

Our Utility client, located in Toronto, ON, seeks a Contract Administrator for a 6 month contract role, beginning immediately(high chance of extension). 

Accountable for the day-to-day field execution of an outsourced portfolio of the organization’s Streetlighting work program. This includes providing technical and administrative guidance and management to the selected vendor during the pre-construction and construction stages of the projects, monitoring the on time and on cost completion of assigned work programs to ensure the work meets the distribution system requirements and is constructed with a high degree of safety and reliability. Requires lot of field work to travel around Toronto City(GTA).

Ideal candidate would have 5-7 years' experience working as a Contract Administator in a related environment 

What you will be doing…

  • Provides day-to-day iterative guidance and support to assigned contractor vendor(s) to ensure the work package viability (cost, customer, assets function, reliability, safety, environment) and timely cost-effective work completion.
  • Manages and mitigates day-to-day construction issues in the field, including:  oversight of legal compliance, materials issues, quality issues, environment, health and safety concerns, and customer complaints.
  • Manages the day-to-day field contract administration of all reactive and corrective street lighting work orders issued by the project execution team, including compliance to service level KPI’s.
  • Facilitate monthly short-interval-control (SIC) meetings with vendor Contract Administrators and Client's Street Lighting management to review program status, safety, and compliance KPI’s

  • Reviews assigned projects and scope packages and conducts project site visits to ensure material is current and relevant, and verifies approach and constructability. 
  • Consults with the Supervisor, Project Execution (Design) to provide advice, consultation and support on the constructability of the work package, offering advice/changes to support improvements to safety or reliability during the construction phase. 
  • Attends pre-construction and ongoing regular construction meetings with assigned vendor. 
  • Leads monthly safety and operations meetings with assigned contractor vendor firm(s) and provides content on safety topics and delivers any required environment, health and safety and/or quality bulletins and any standard design practice changes, process and procedure changes and operational updates.
  • Supports Supervisor, Project Execution with recurring billing sessions to review and ensure all contractor work adheres to standards/guidelines.
  • Reviews all requests for system access by contractor vendor staff; ensures pre-qualification of contractors are met. 
  • Coordinates external resource support, should the situation warrant, including engaging with the firms, rostering of crews, processing time sheets and managing materials availability.
  • Acts as a single point of contact to contractor vendor firm(s) during escalated emergencies.

We are currently seeking a candidate for the position of Senior Specialist, IS Protection – Testing and Incident Response. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the candidate is responsible for the development, coordination and performance of security tests as part of the vulnerability assessment and penetration testing program for Corporate Security’s Information Security organization. The specialist will assist with the identification and tracking of remediation of risk issues, advise on mitigation safeguards, processes and security best practices and act as a spokesperson and expert on related subjects.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology-related field, or in computer science with a specialization in telecommunications, or the equivalent.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in information security.
  • Extensive experience in Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing for Web Application,

  • Provides input into the organization’s cyber security strategy.  Continuously improves organizational, divisional and departmental systems, processes and procedures to reduce/minimize cyber security risks.
  • Establishes formal structures for proactive assessment of cyber security risk and business needs; provides recommendations and actionable guidance to organizational stakeholders to enhance policy conformance; support availability, integrity and confidentiality of the organization’s services, information, and other assets. Acts as the primary point of contact for follow-up/mitigation in the event of cyber security breach.
  • Researches and identifies industry trends related to security and enterprise architecture leveraging ideas to improve or better align IT systems and services. Leads proof-of-concept for security solutions and establishes guidelines and frameworks to keep security solutions aligned to the latest standards.
     

REQUIREMENTS:     

  • Undergraduate degree in business, computer science or engineering.         
  • Master’s level degree in related field or one or more relevant certifications (CISSP; CISA; CISM; CRISC; ISO27000 audit; ITIL)

Job Overview

OPG (Ontario Power Generation) is currently developing a variety of innovative mobile and web-based solutions as part of a digital transformation initiative that will have an impact across all of RG. This initiative will enable users to manage information, better; and ensures that information is available at the right time, to the right person, and in a format that makes the most sense. This position if for an ASP.NET developer who will develop web-based applications that will be deployed on Microsoft Azure.

  • Researching, developing and implementing a range of business use cases in support of OPG Renewable Generation.
  • Programming in the Visual Studio environment and the C# language using ASP.NET Core, Identify Framework and the Entity Framework.
  • Providing feedback and recommendations to improve the products being developed and improve workflows.
  • Developing end-user and technical documentation.
  • Developing use cases and executing test cases using formal and ad-hoc testing procedures.
  • This is a dynamic, team environment in which continual learning is emphasized and collaboration with team members is vital.

Qualifications

  • Experience with developing in the Visual Studio environment, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, Identity Framework, Javascript and the C# language.
  • A good understanding of SQL and SQL Server.
  • Ability to research, develop and implement a range of business use cases.
  • Ability to provide feedback and recommendations to improve the products being developed.
  • Ability to Develop end-user and technical documentation.
  • Ability to Develop use cases and execute test cases using formal and ad-hoc testing procedures.
  • A good understanding of Xamarin Forms (mobile development) is an asset.

Micro Service Engineer

We are seeking a MicroServices Engineer for the biometric identity solution R&D team located in Pasadena, CA for a 6 months contract, working closely with colleagues and customers throughout the full software development life cycle, you will analyse requirements, design software components, develop software product and implement integrated software and systems solutions.

Skills:

  • Minimum 5 year of work related software development experience (including internships).

  • Experience in Microservice development and comprehensive knowledge in Docker technology and Kubernetes usage.
  • Relational DBMS related experience.

Our Public Sector client in Toronto is looking to hire a Radio (SME) Technician for a 10-month contract opportunity.

The client is looking for candidates who can work in a fast-paced environment and has a working knowledge and experience with IT networks in the technology field.

The resources will work with clients in a wide variety of industries that includes emergency first responders across the province of Ontario.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicates process standards to ensure understanding across the organization
