Job Description:

  • Chemical Engineer Assistant Assist CAE engineers perform Finite Element and Mold Filling Analysis by building computer models (using shell and solid elements) of plastic components.
  • As the skills improve, this person will perform increasingly more difficult and complex FEA and/or mold filling analyses.
  • Perform some computer aided design (CAD) work using such programs as Unigraphics NX, Solidworks, building geometric 3D models of conceptual designs sketched by design engineers.
  • Perform project assignments, with the help of application development and CAE engineers to design and develop applications utilizing engineering plastic materials.
  • Aid in product teardowns and the development of new applications.
  • Gain experience in the field of engineering plastics product design and development technology
  • Develop safety procedures for those working with potentially dangerous chemicals
  • Troubleshoot problems with manufacturing processes
  • Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
  • Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes
  • Design and plan the layout of equipment
  • Do tests and monitor performance of processes throughout production
  • Estimate production costs for management
  • Develop processes to separate components of liquids or gases or to generate electrical currents using controlled chemical processes
  • Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes
  • Develop safety procedures for those working with potentially dangerous chemicals

Qualifications: 

  • Chemical engineers must have a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. practical experience valued, so cooperative engineering programs, in which students earn college credit for structured job experience, are valuable as well. 
  • No medical clearances or respirator required
