Job Purpose:

Project Planner/Scheduler

We have a contract opportunity for a Planner/Scheduler for our electric utilities client located in Waltham, MA.  The initial contract period will run for one year with a possible extension

Duties Include:

  • Develop a detailed construction plan that involves planned outages (shutdowns), construction phases, construction steps, material, and equipment requirements, lay down areas, and overall time schedule
  • Review substation design drawings and provide comments to engineering.
  • Develop detailed construction sequence based on the design criteria and provide construction input to the design team in order to identify potential construction issues such as the need for temporary facilities.
  • Provide input to engineering in order to identify potential areas to implement safety by design.
  • Attend site meetings and participate with project team to evaluate different engineering solutions, construction strategies, and project delivery strategies in order to deliver the project safely and efficiently.
  • Understand collective bargaining agreements that could impact work plan delivery.
  • Develop work plans that are aligned with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure system reliability, safety, and efficiency is demonstrated

Skills Required:

  • 5+ years’ relevant years experience in the electricity construction management environment with 3+ years in the utility management

  • Promote, develop, and support engagement communications/activities with key stakeholders, trade allies, and business partners relevant to electric and gas service fulfillment to share best practice, provide technical advice and build bases of influence.
  • On behalf of Customer Fulfillment, provide electric and gas tariff, billing, and policy interpretation support, guidance, and coaching in liaison with established tariff, policy, and regulatory application developers/committees/departments in order to develop technical understanding across the Operations group.
  • Work with department managers/supervisors in resolution of elevated electric and gas service fulfillment complaints/issues (external customer sponsored).
  • Liaison with Performance Management to collate and analyse department/team specific performance data in order to support the department’s decision-making process and improvement initiatives.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, engineering, science, other technical discipline and/or equivalent work experience required.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience (within the energy industry preferred).
  • Working knowledge of relevant electric and/or gas business operations, processes, practices, standards, legislation, and tariffs along with current trends and developments in customer satisfaction.

Job Purpose:

As a Gas Scheduler for our in the Energy Procurement Organization you will be part of Wholesale Gas Supply Department, primarily responsible for executing scheduling activities associated with the regulated natural gas transaction activities. The Gas Scheduler will perform scheduling processes (nominations, capacity release, pathing and trade capture system scheduling) in a timely and accurate manner. The Gas Scheduler will work closely with both traders and planners to clearly understand and meet energy commodity requirements in order to ensure reliable, least cost service for the ratepayer and maximize the performance of the natural gas portfolio. As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Gas Scheduler will also take part in the on-call rotation and will receive an Emergency Restoration assignment for major storms as required.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Execute all aspects of the first of the month, next-day and intra-day scheduling process for regulated natural gas transactions.
  • Execute capacity releases for gas off-system sales transactions, Asset Management Arrangements (AMAs) and Retail Choice programs according to National Grids policies and procedures and FERC regulations.
  • Executes daily and weekly balancing trades, as necessary, to balance daily natural gas receipts and deliveries.
  • Analyzes pipeline balances and reconciles imbalances, including coordination of make-up/pay-back schedules with counterparties and pipelines.
  • Works closely with the Gas Traders to ensure that all scheduling and trading processes are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensures data entry requirements are met to properly settle with counterparties.
  • Executes transactions in accordance with all risk policies and limits.

Skills

  • Minimum (5) years gas scheduling experience.
  • Knowledge of key interstate gas pipelines serving Northeast markets (e.g. Transco, Texas Eastern, Tennessee, Algonquin, Iroquois, Dominion, Texas Gas, etc.) is a plus.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment required.

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics, Computer Science, Finance, Management Information Systems or other analytic discipline or equivalent work experience is required.

  • Provide monthly management reporting of actual to budget variances, forecast updates and variance analysis and year on year analyses for the Jurisdictions, Functions.
