Job Purpose:

The Project Analyst is an integral member of the Infrastructure Solution Delivery (ISD) team and is responsible for assisting in the coordination of various activities associated with the projects & programs assigned to the team. Their principal responsibility is to support the project manager to ensure that the project delivers to time, cost and quality standards. They are an expert in National Grid PPM frameworks and provide guidance and support to the project to ensure that they are compliant, creating action plans and escalating non-compliance if required.   • Tracking of various aspects of project development and execution.

Project Analyst Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure that the project/program complies to National Grid frameworks and policies, providing support and guidance to the project as required
  • Responsible for internal project audits to check that all relevant project artifacts/documentation are in place, ensuring that the project is always audit-ready
  • Supports all external audits as required
  • Escalate non-compliance to the Project Manager in the first instance, then the Portfolio Director if required
  • Supporting the monthly financial process, ensuring that forecasts are as accurate as possible and monthly finance deadlines are adhered to
  • Assist in the development of project status, program board and/or steering committee material
  • Assist with the drafting of project documentation
  • Supporting project governance activities, including setting project cadence for meetings and reporting for the project
  • Has in-depth knowledge of the delivery framework, governance & structure of agile & waterfall projects, guiding other members of the project team
  • Assisting with setting up / maintaining the project plan and RAID log in Microsoft Project Online
  • Provide a central point of accountability for coordinating and processing invoices
  • Effectively and accurately supporting communication of relevant project information to the project team and external parties
  • Schedule/coordinate project activities to include meetings, teleconferences, videoconferences, etc.
  • Participate in both internal and external meetings, keeping accurate notes and distributing meeting minutes as appropriate
  • Assist in tracking development, approval, and processing for all Statement of Works, Engage WPs, other
  • Assist in the development of the closure paper and associated proceedings

Management & Reporting Structure:

  • The Project Analyst team report directly into the ISD Portfolio Director, with a dotted line into the Project Manager
  • The Portfolio Director sets overall roles & responsibilities and the strategy for the Project Analyst team
  • The Project Manager will handle day to day task management specific to the project
  • The Portfolio Director is responsible for deciding what projects the Project Analysts are assigned to, based on capacity, prioritization & skillset
  • Project Analysts will work with the project manager to resolve issues on a day to day basis, escalating to the Portfolio Director on an exception basis

Field Supervisor

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a Field Supervisor on behalf of one of the largest Utility company in Waltham, MA.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed underground transmission construction plans that include planned outages, construction phases, construction steps, material, equipment requirements, lay down areas, and schedules that align with the project plan, safety standards, policies and processes to ensure that the execution of the work plans will promote a safe working environment and minimize risk
  • Review project construction drawings and provide details or corrections as they apply from company design standards and EOP’s
  • Translate functional policy into processes and procedures that drive greater efficiencies for client and ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental regulatory standards/ legislation/governance. Understand collective bargaining agreements that could impact work plan delivery
  • Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area
  • Provide proactive leadership and direction to contracted workforce to ensure that high standards of safety, security, and environmental compliance are developed and consistently maintained
  • Review project health and safety plans, inclusive of Project Hazard Assessment for high hazard work practices
  • Hold clearances and non-reclose assurances required for construction as an authorized person within Clearance & Control
  • Monitor contractor resource levels, performance, and implementation plan progress for assigned projects to be certain that appropriate resource levels are being utilized
  • Foster and manage internal and contractor relationships that encourage open/honest communication and drive safety, performance, quality, efficiency, customer service, issue resolution, and project successes
  • Drive Contractor performance through monitoring construction project status, assessing schedule performance, reassigning resources, and monitoring environmental concerns to ensure efficient project delivery and timely internal stakeholder support
  • Participate in project conference calls and meetings to support the planning and execution of projects. Provided construction updates and reports
  • Assure that contracted personnel are properly directed, trained, licensed, and evaluated within Company guidelines and policies
  • Interact and communicate closely with project stakeholders to ensure timely project completion
  • Support weather related events and system emergency restoration and on-call responsibilities

Other duties as assigned

  • Strong background in electric utility construction, supervision, and construction Management
  • Broad knowledge of UG Transmission construction
  • Knowledge of federal, state, OSHA, local, and applicable environmental rules and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with self-direction and high motivation
  • Ability to understand construction field issues, prints specification sheets, schematics, one-line diagrams, and instructional information to construct, maintain, and troubleshoot electric transmission systems
  • A thorough understanding of electrical principles and the hazards associated with electrical transmission UG construction
  • Ability to travel throughout the service territory and work extended hours and weekends as required on construction projects and system emergencies
  • Ability to be listed as authorized person on client Clearance and Control list
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Windows based applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Possess and maintain a clean, valid state issued driver's license.

Planner/Scheduler

We are looking for a Planner/Scheduler on behalf of one of the largest Utility company in Waltham, MA.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop a detailed construction plan that involves planned outages (shutdowns), construction phases, construction steps, material, and equipment requirements, lay down areas, and overall time schedule with final ready for load dates that align with the project plan.
  • Must have the ability to review substation design drawings and provide comments to engineering. Must be able to develop a detailed construction sequence based on the design criteria. Must be able to provide constructive input to the design team in order to identify potential construction issues such as the need for temporary facilities.
  • Provide input to engineering in order to identify potential areas to implement safety by design. Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within the assigned area.
  • Attend site meetings and participate with the project team to evaluate different engineering solutions, construction strategies, and project delivery strategies in order to deliver the project safely and efficiently.
  • Understand collective bargaining agreements that could impact work plan delivery.
  • Develop work plans that are aligned with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure that the execution of the work plans will promote a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff. Collaborate with other groups to ensure system reliability, safety, and efficiency are demonstrated during large scale projects.
  • Review health and safety plans for each specific project, inclusive of Project Hazard Assessment (PHA) for high hazard work practices.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership during all site meetings and project discussions. Lead by example and ensure safety is incorporated into all aspects of the project and the daily job.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 to 8 years of equivalent experience in the electricity construction management environment with 3 to 5 years in utility management.
  • Experience in substation construction with a focus on construction methods, cost control, safety, environmental, quality and service, and performance. Demonstrated knowledge and application of Safety and Environmental rules.
  • Ability to assess potential conflicts by reviewing construction drawings and provide solutions to the project team.
  • Must be able to work in a cross-functional role to develop a construction plan with inputs from the various operations groups, project management, engineering, and dispatch control room.
  • Analytical Thinking: Sees relationships between work plans, safety issues, constructability, and spend vs. efficiency reports identifying several likely causes or consequences of a situation.

This position would be responsible for responding to customer billing inquiries, administrative, program management and support functions related to interconnecting customer-owned distributed generation facilities. Key Accountabilities

  • Provide support in administering Community DG programs and other incentive programs.
  • Assist in maintaining records of the DG project beyond the first-time setup of the account.
  • Help troubleshoot various billing, metering and account maintenance issues after the interconnection.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of program management experience preferably in Supply Chain related activities
  • Certification or formal training in Program or Project Management and experience using a resource management tools is a big plus.
  • Strong preference for understanding of Lean 5S methodology

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Experience compiling GANTT charts and project plans.
  • Experience with project management tools such as MS Project or other.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in addition to having the ability to effectively communicate within the project teams as well as to top level management.

Role Summary/Purpose

This position would be responsible to perform activities that support Client interconnection of customer distributed generation facilities.

Key Accountabilities

  • These activities would support areas such as but not limited to, contract administration, renewable energy, and net metering program inquiries, various stakeholder reporting, program and/or online portal management, process improvement and on-going operational responsibilities for such facilities in accordance with applicable interconnection requirements involving FERC, ISO-NY, state regulatory and corporate tariffs and operating procedures
  • Provide billing support for the development of Distributed Energy Resource (DER) programs in across National Grid service territories.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal & external stakeholders on DER Programs such as but not limited to SMART VDER, ReGrowth and Community Net Metering.
  • Work cross-functionally with Billing Operations, Metering, Account Management, Customer Response Center, and other groups as necessary, for the successful execution and maintenance of DER programs.
  • Maintain and analyze data to accurately forecast DG activities. Identify external drivers for the growth of interconnections in respective states.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with the tools and systems used to gather the information necessary to accumulate and organize the data we use into appropriate outputs.
  • Produce effective management information and reporting in order to provide insight on customers for more senior team members.
  • Monitor and review work financial information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up-to-date and accurate information.

Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent work experience required
  • Knowledge of the electric and gas industry, construction, and/or distributed generation is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Experience with Salesforce and utility billing system is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of regulatory concepts and rate-making is highly desirable.

Key Accountabilities:

Contract Strategy

Storm Support

  • Support Securing Resources team during minor and major weather events in New York & New England. Responsibilities could include procuring, processing, or tracking contractor crews. Storm support is required 365 days a year and may involve weekend and holiday work as needed.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or equivalent experience required

Strategic Sourcing Specialist

We are looking for a Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist consultant on behalf of one of the largest Utility company in Waltham, MA.  

Job Purpose:

The Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for supporting client sourcing activities within US Procurement. Experience should include category management, supplier relationship management, commercial negotiations, procurement process management and improvement, systems and analytics, market supplier development and a clear, working knowledge of current industry trends.

Groups within US Procurement looking for individuals include: Construction Services (Electric & Gas) & Indirects (Fleet, Facilities, IT & Professional Services)

Position Responsibilities of (including but not limited to):

Category Management

  • With the support of the Category Manager, work with Stakeholders to establish clear business needs, apply forward-thinking skills to set long term category strategies
  • Able to execute operationally, complex sourcing activities
  • Manage the delivery of savings targets
  • Mastery of transactional sourcing activities
  • Understands sourcing processes, able to implement more than one option: RFX, e-sourcing or pooling

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Actively focused on maximizing contract values, tracks and reviews its benefits

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S) required; in the supply chain, finance or business management preferred. C.P.M or equivalent certifications preferred. MBA, MS preferred.
  • Preferred five years’ experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, and vendor management. Strong working knowledge of SAP, Ariba & P2P systems required.

Project Manager

Job Purpose:

Responsible for the planning, delivery, management and governance of the NY Electric Complex Capital Projects to ensure they are developed in a least cost, fit for purpose manner in order to improve long term project robustness, requirements, costs and timescales.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure NY Electric projects adhere to the Complex Capital Delivery process for the timely creation and approval of the Project Execution Plan which includes preliminary engineering, baseline schedule, detailed cost estimate, risk profile and resource strategy.
  • Assemble cross functional project team to establish development and design requirements, milestones and affordability ceilings while driving adherence of the frameworks, policies, procedures, controls and reporting necessary to drive an efficient and effective approach to project development that optimizes the success of NY Electric capital project delivery.
  • Facilitate and encourage the introduction of new technologies and innovative solutions to improve the delivery of NY Electric capital projects safely, on time, and in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ year experience in electric operations engineering, project management, utility construction or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree required in an engineering discipline and/or significant relevant project management, engineering and construction experience in all aspects of utility natural gas construction operations. Master’s degree in engineering discipline, MBA or relevant equivalent preferred.
  • Preference given to candidates with a Professional Engineers license and/or Certified Project Management Professional.
  • Considerable proven experience in direct project development and design including milestone management, resourcing, affordability, risk management, reporting and possess team leadership and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative, integrity and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner.
  • Knowledge of electrical system operations, engineering, environmental, engineering economics, and familiarity with legal, purchasing, and utility accounting regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints. Bottom-line oriented, budget conscious, metric/measurement driven.
  • Ability to create a high energy team climate whereby team members can discuss relevant issues freely and where there is a strong emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Strong skills in Electrical engineering design, project management, stakeholder engagement, presentation, construction management, interpersonal, oral & written communication, critical analysis and capable of leading and influencing teams, and gaining support and commitment from a wider operational group.
