Ian Martin Workforce is working with an Telecommunications company that has a diverse fleet of units including Transports, Hydro Vacs, Dump Trucks, and other Heavy Construction equipment.  This is a shop role with no field call outs required, and an environment that will play to your strengths as a Mechanic.  

Every day can be different working on Electrical and Hydraulic systems, performing diagnostics. Teardown and rebuilds to keep as much work in-house. You don’t mind getting dirty and learning the whole time.  You have a team-minded attitude, willingness to improve your skills and learn something new every day.

You will be…

  • Working on fuel injection systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, lubrication sustems, engine control systems
  • Doing major internal engine repairs and overhauls
  • Working in collaboration with others to accomplish daily assigned tasks.
  • Arrive on time and prepared to start work for scheduled shifts
  • Participating in all Safety and Planning meetings as required to attend.
  • Being an active participant in maintaining a safe work environment for yourself and others

Ian Martin Workforce is working with a medium-sized Electrical Contractor that is looking to bring on a Electrician to their ever-growing team.  With project across the GTA, they are supporting  industrial, commercial and residential and institutional.

This is an ideal position working directly with clients. You enjoy the challenges that come with being on new sites every day or even returning to the same site until the project is complete. You are someone that is safety focused, team-oriented, highly detailed oriented and can provide excellent customer service.  You are passionate about your work and able to do any electrical task on site.

  • Clean up tools and work area. Ensure tool are locked in Job Box on site
  • Provide material counts to the foreman on a weekly basis

Maintenance Field Supervisor

Ian Martin Workforce is working with an Oil and Gas midstream distribution company located in Toronto. We are currently seeking a Field Supervisor that will be a leader for the Mechanical Maintenance department.

The Field Supervisor is meant to be a "hand on" and willing to do whatever it take to get the job done.

Maintenance Field Supervisor is required to:

  • Supervise and being "hand on" for all mechanical work on site, this includes anything from Lawn Care, Paving, Snow Removal, Gate Maintenance, HVAC Maintenance, Civil Works and Painting
  • Work Plan Development, writing step by step work plans on how to accomplish and complete tasks on site. This will now include pictures
  • Present work plans to client, receive feedback on plans and add them to schedule when approved
  • Assist with all work scopes such as filter changes, load arm changes, pump/motor replacements
  • Contacting contractors to firm up work scope and quotes for jobs
  • Able to interpret Imperials procedures/policies
  • Submit quotes and change orders 
  • Maintain a 2 to 4 week schedule (outlook) each week have weekly meetings, go over work plans, get approval, later in the week to put plans into schedule. Want to get to a 4-week schedule that is locked in, any breaks can push out schedule.
  • Becoming proactive with scheduling. 
  • Issue Work orders to workers and Purchase order to contractors
  • Prioritizing urgent work. 
  • Track costs on work orders and request PO increases prior to work completion
  • Close out work orders in a timely manner
  • Report to management on work progress and issues.

Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Licensed Mechanic and or Licensed Millwright.
  • Supervisory Experience  5-10 years
  • Licensed Millwrights, Maintenance Mechanics welcome to apply

Strengths:

  • Knowledge of Mechanical Maintenance projects
  • Background in Construction or Gas distribution an asset
  • Able to come up with multiple solutions to mechanical issues.
  • Savvy on a computer. Using all Microsoft products

Civil Estimator

The Estimator will centralize and standardize our bid processes as a key member of our Business Development team. This individual will support Operations in the development, management, and continuous improvement of the bid process. The Estimator will ensure proposals meet consistent standards and coordinate the collection of key proposal inputs such as scope, costs, engineering requirements, examples of previous projects, and other information required to respond to bids or requests for proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the bid process including initiating bid kick off meetings with internal stakeholders, respond to pre-qualifications, RFQ's, RFP's and preparing bid for General Manager's review and approval.
  • Coordinate resources to ensure all bids are submitted on time and are of consistent quality.
  • Prepare contract briefing sheets so important contract compliance items are summarized and communicated to Operations.
  • Interact with team members on pricing exercises.
  • Document customer requirements, working with internal departments, and create proposals to meet requirements.
  • Maintain strong internal relationships to gather relevant, accurate, information.
  • Calculation of quantities and take offs.
  • Request pricing from subcontractors and material suppliers.
  • Preparing big bond and insurance requests for contracts.
  • Update and maintain contract and customer files.
  • Organize bid submission reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
  • 5 years of relevant experience with estimating, bid management, and contract management.
  • Experience in the Construction industry is considered an asset.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, including meeting facilitation.
  • Exceptional written and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with estimating systems including HCSS HeavyBid, as well as MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently to complete team deliverables.
