  • Working at ground level or at heights, climbing ladders/scaffolding

You are…

  • 2 to 3 years experience running a crew of wall formers
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of construction forming processes
  • Previous experience working with Duraform Wall Forming system
  • Ability to self-motivate and keep up to production timelines.
  • Available and flexible to work Monday to Friday and Saturday as required, up to 10 hours per day
  • Able to lift up to 80-100lbs with proper lifting techniques

As their new Senior Manager, you will be working on land development projects from acquisition to final assumption for residential builds.  Supporting the approval process and participate in the home design stage to maximize land potential.  This role with be 75% in office and 25% in the field with projects in the Niagara and surrounding areas.

What you will be doing…

Land Development and Planning

  • Assist with the management of land development projects from acquisition to final assumption, with liaison between Sales/Marketing, Building/Architecture, Government Authorities, Consulting team and Contractors.
  • Apply your technical engineering, planning and/or business skills to real land development projects.
  • Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, cash flows and other financial reporting.
  • Support management with municipal approvals: draft plans, zoning, site plans, subdivision registration etc.
  • Obtain development approvals by working with multi-disciplined consultant teams and government authorities.
  • Maintain appropriate records of approvals, engineering plans, permits etc. for individual projects.
  • Manage planning studies, development applications and reviews consultant proposals
  • Develops project budgets, administers bidding process, verifies contract expenditures and compliance
  • Liaises with municipal staff, councilors and other agencies as required to advance the development approvals process
  • Present reports and other findings to staff, the Planning and Zoning board, and council and serves as liaison to such committees
  • Manages the consultant team to ensure timely and cost-efficient deliver of planning and engineering approval
  • Supervises junior planners within the company
  • Prepares and regularly update project schedules
  • Manage trades during the site servicing phase of development
  • Completes due diligence on potential development sites including but not limited to the review of planning approval timelines, constraints, opportunities and potential yield

 

Construction Management

  • Responsible for the administration and management of various construction projects
  • Work closely with stakeholders to coordinate and ensure the schedule, safety and quality control
  • Work alongside the owner, architects and engineers to facilitate design and construction processes
  • Manage estimating, scheduling, quality control, reporting progress, reviewing and coordinating design and safety coordination
  • Manage the buyout of the project and assist in selecting subcontractors
  • Communicate effectively with all parties involved in the project

You are…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – preferred
  • C.E.T., Construction Management or another related field – required
  • 10+ years of industry experience

Your tasks will include:

  • Maintain all illumination devices and lighting systems in the airfield and administrative buildings
  • Maintain airfield lighting control systems, baggage systems, passenger boarding bridge and associated gate equipment
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance, emergency repairs and modifications to airport electrical systems such as, Aircraft Support Systems but not limited to, electrical distribution systems including emergency power generation, Building Automated Lighting System, Variable Frequency Drives, Programmable Logic Controls and all other auxiliary equipment with Electrical controls.
  • Installing new electrical services in facilities including sizing conduit and/or cable runs, carrying out installation work and testing the completed job
  • Provide supervision and monitoring of electrical maintenance, repair and project work being performed by outside contractors, and observing the work being done by contractor personnel. Also, ensure that it is being completed in accordance with contract specifications, report to the Electrical Manager and/or the Technical Specialist/Supervisors on the quality of the work performed and recommend its acceptance or rejection
  • Diagnose electrical equipment faults (including electronic components)
  • Check and test fire alarm systems, monitoring systems and implementing necessary repairs

You have the following… 

  • Certification of Qualification – 309A Journeyman Electrician
  • Minimum of 3 years experience at Journeyman level in a Electrical Maintenance position
  • Full G Drivers License with a Clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Must have a Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be comfortable working in adverse weather conditions, previous experience preferred

So what does this entail?

This position reports to the President/CEO and is responsible for the development of sales growth strategies across all regions within the Buildings Sector.  You will do this by conducting market research, preparing market strategies and establishing market priorities. You are accountable for setting high technical standards across all practice areas and ensuring that R&D contributions continue within the Buildings Sector.

Business Development & Sales

  • Global marketing strategy
  • Development of strategic customers and Sector growth 
  • Work with Regional VP developing M&A opportunities in their regions.
  • Marketing budget management.
  • Provide intel to regional sales team on potential new business opportunities and facilitate introductions

Project Delivery Accountability:

  • Oversight on all major projects especially ones involve new business development.

Technical Oversight

  • Setting a standard across all practice area groups across the Sector.

People Leadership

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of the engineering requirements for the specific Sector.
  • Previous experience working as a General Manager or VP for a Business unit or Regional area.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills (e.g. oral, written, and listening).
  • Experience with developing a Business strategy and can demonstrate previous success in implementing the strategy.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Holds Professional Engineering designation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide structure, support, administrative systems and methodologies to meet contract obligations in relation to quality, safety, contractor agreements, procurement, cost control, scheduling and estimating management processes and procedures.

Project Manager Halton

Project Manager needed to support the day to day operations of the Road Maintenance department. Ensuring all MTO contracts are met in a cost effective, safe and efficient manner. This is for Halton Region area(s)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide structure, support, administrative systems and methodologies to meet contract obligations in relation to quality, safety, contractor agreements, procurement, cost control, scheduling and estimating management processes and procedures.
  • Proactively respond to issues that impact on contract requirements and facilitate solutions in timely manner; share methodologies that will bring about improvements systemically.
  • Organize, direct, manage and coordinate the project team members to build teamwork and ensure high performance.
  • Drives the company values and ensures the values are incorporated into the development, management and performance of the team. Seeks to develop employees professionally to include safety, quality, customer service and general business proficiency.
  • Comply with Company Risk Management, Quality Assurance and Safety programs, policies, systems and procedures including federal, state and local legislation and statutory.
  • Establish and maintain effective relations with the Client, subcontractors and suppliers. 
  • Interfaces with designers, manages regulatory and Fire/Life/Safety approval process.
  • Monitor financial performance, conduct financial analysis and prepare performance information and recommendations for incorporation into the periodic reports to management.
  • Provide input into the development, review, negotiation and implementation of subcontractor and supplier agreements in order to gain the best possible return for the contract.
  • Establish and report appropriate metrics for measuring contract performance.
  • Responsible for the overall safety of all project personnel. 
  • Avoids legal challenges by complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
  • Carry out all duties in line with Company policies and procedures as amended from time to time.
  • Monitors Rehabilitation activities to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished, to include O&M Manual development, design review, planning, and facility/system acceptance following renewal/rehabilitation.  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of asset management within facility maintenance, repairs, and operations.
  • Experience with project management concepts, related processes, principles and their application. Must be able to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
  • Must be able to negotiate, coordinate and plan effectively. The incumbent must possess strong analytical and communication skills.
  • A well organized, self-directed individual with the ability to provide strong leadership, possess the ability to manage and organize multiple priorities, maintain a significant customer focus and positive customer service attitude.
  • Standard engineering and MS Office software proficiency to include Microsoft word, excel, access and project, in addition to CMMS applications specific to DataStream (MP2) / INFOR (EAM).
  • This position requires a highly developed sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability. Must have the ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident.
  • Must be able to think clearly and focus on your safety in your immediate surroundings, while using tools and equipment, while driving or operating equipment.
  • As a supervisor, you are required to lead by example; encourage co-workers and supervised employees to correctly use PPE; follow proper safety rules of conduct, take appropriate corrective actions, including the initiation of disciplinary action to enforce the use and observance of PPE and safety rules within your area of supervised responsibility.
  • Must be willing and able to meet any specific project contractual obligation.
  • Must be willing and able to pass Advanced MOT training

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Required)
  • Professional Engineering License (Highly desired)
  • 5-10 years industry experience; previous facility management or supervisory experience (Required)
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record (Required)

 The Senior Architectural Technologist is responsible for creating and coordinating contract documents, reviewing drawings, coordinating with consultants and supporting projects through to contract administration and completion. The position provides technical expertise to the firm and acts as the technical lead on architectural design projects, participating in the design and construction process as well as providing input or support to achieve project objectives.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Prepare working drawings; ensuring that they are coordinated effectively; having correspondence with consultants to make sure everything stays up to date.
  • Research construction materials and methods for specific project application; provides guidance on architectural detail to in-house contract document production teams.
  • Do markups on the drawings and make corrections; prioritizing drawing projects based on urgency.
  • Research construction materials and methods for specific project application; provide input on architectural details.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, consultants and staff to maintain company’s reputation for quality.
  • Prepares and/or reviews written project specifications.
  • Stays abreast of current technologies and materials through attendance at seminars, product demonstrations, etc.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of company drafting standards and standard details.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensure timely and accurate design and delivery of drawings and plans.
  • All drawings or designs created must be in line with current drafting/design standards, including use of revision control
  • Ensure the production of accurate drawings, building details and drawing templates in compliance with applicable building codes and standards. Bring issues on the projects to the attention of the Architect.
  • Communication is ongoing, clear, concise, and complete.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing and cataloguing of drawings and plans. 
  • Maintain up-to-date current company drafting and design standards.
  • Keep up-to-date on building codes, drafting/design practices.
  • Maintains capability on MS Word, Sketch-up and AutoCAD software; capability on Revit.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Education Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years related experience in a Canadian/US architecture firm.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Architectural Technology from a recognized Institution.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures.
  • Understanding of building construction and the value of effective technical documents.
  • Knowledge of technical detailing, construction process, construction industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, multi-tasking, coordination and organizational abilities.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop a detailed construction plan that involves planned outages, construction phases, construction steps, material, and equipment requirements, lay down areas, and overall time schedule with final ready for load dates that align with the project plan.
  • Translate business objectives into clearly defined work plans in order to support achievement of PM & CC goals
  • Develop high level work plans and champion innovation through collaboration with other areas in order to test their feasibility and constructability.
  • In partnership with project managers, materials management, control centers, project estimators, and resource planners, monitor and control allocated human and material resources, maintaining financial and progress forecasting in order to ensure projects are delivered according to schedule and within budget. Ensure resource availability.
  • Translate functional policy into processes and procedures that drive greater efficiencies for National Grid and ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental regulatory standards/ legislation/governance. Understand collective bargaining agreements that could impact work plan delivery.
  • Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area.
  • Develop work plans that are aligned with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure that the execution of the work plans will promote a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff. Collaborate with other groups to ensure system reliability, safety, and efficiency is demonstrated during large scale projects.
  • Review health and safety plans for each specific project, inclusive of Project Hazard Assessment (PHA) for high hazard work practices.
  • Partner with legal and real estate groups for any challenges that are presented in project execution along rights of ways and company owned property where new or existing facilities could be developed.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or 5 to 8 years equivalent experience in the electricity construction management environment with 3 to 5 years in the utility management.
  • Experience in coordination of projects and a construction workforce with focus on construction methods, cost control, safety, environmental, quality and service, and performance. Demonstrated knowledge and application of Safety and Environmental rules.
  • Analytical Thinking: Sees relationships between work plans, safety issues, constructability, and spend vs. efficiency reports identifying several likely causes or consequences of a situation.
  • Impact and Influence: Uses direct persuasion to influence others involved in the construction process, using basic data, logic or examples of prior outcomes to support the approach outlined in the work plans themselves.
