Ambashi Engineering is currently seeking a Construction Contract Administrator for MTO projects. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, self-directed and possess a passion for engineering & project management.

License/Certifications: Registration as a Professional Engineer or Technician or Technologist with OACETT Road Construction Contract Administrator (RCCA)or P.Eng. designation.

Experience: Minimum two-year experience as a Contract Administrator on MTO project. Successfully completed two (2) MTO project one with minimum $10Million bridge or road construction project. More MTO experienced is preferred.

Training: MTO T131 Dispute Resolution training required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of our Contract Administration Group, you will be responsible for all aspects of contract administration related to various construction site projects for different field office locations. Duties include, but are not limited to:

•Administer highway construction contracts as per the Consultant agreement

•Analyse contractor’s critical path (schedule)

•Identify, document and assess the rating of deficiencies (deviations from Contractor’s Quality Control Process and or OPSS standards) in the contractor’s work

•Deliverables and monitor those as per the Consultant agreement to ensure prompt delivery.

•Ensure CA staff maintain detailed daily diaries of contractor’s work, contract progress and inspection milestones.

•Ensuring CA staff are trained to a competent level to do the assigned work safely.

•Review the test results and calculate Penalty/Bonus for payment

•Negotiate Price agreements, change orders, claims and work directives for all work that is not covered in the contract documentation

•Ensure approved construction materials are used and acquired from approved sources and a record is kept of such materials.

•Perform and/or supervise quality assurance (QA) acceptance and inspection on grading, concrete, asphalt, electrical and/or granular. Monitor various weigh scales for accuracy and compliance.

•Ensure that the contractor adheres to the contract requirements; e.g. legal, environmental, construction standards, protection of wildlife, etc.

•Identification, documentation and assessment of deficiencies/deviations from Contractor’s Quality Control Process and or OPSS standards

•Travel and work on projects throughout Ontario.

•Passed the MTO T131 – Advance Claim -Dispute Resolution training.

•Must have sound knowledge of design standards, OPSS, Construction Administration and Inspection Task Manual and materials associated with construction, Laws and Regulations including Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety requirements and their application in construction contracts.

•Excellent communication, analytical, team work and negotiation skills.

•Computer knowledge & ability to utilize MS Office software applications as well other software.
