Job Purpose:

The Site Construction Manager will be involved in all phases of construction including civil, structural, electrical, testing and commissioning of utility substation construction projects (which may include new construction or modifications or upgrades to existing substations).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the overall control of all project activities at the job site including managing site personnel, safety, project quality, reliability, cost control, and schedule milestones.
  • Be responsible for overall site management of projects per the contract and for cost effectiveness and the most efficient use of resources.
  • Report operationally to the Project Manager responsible for the specified project
  • Customer interface and work coordination.
  • Interface with assigned Project Engineers for electrical and civil design requirements throughout life of project.
  • Coordinate all assigned projects site personnel and coordination between subcontractors, craft labor and post-order construction.
  • Be responsible for direction of subcontractor work within scopes established. Coordinate with contract administration for issues with written contracts.
  • Be responsible for material and equipment inventories and control.
  • Ensure policies are properly administered relating to all project documentation, communication and reporting routines.
  • Interface with project planning and scheduling to ensure accurate execution of schedule; provide update and percent complete evaluations.
  • Work with EHS Coordinator for ensuring all site safety procedures are strictly adhered to including daily and weekly meetings and documentation routines.
  • Coordinate with Project finance to ensure timely and accurate inputs into financial reporting.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Field, Engineering, or Construction Management

Software Engineer (Engineer II)

SOFTWARE ENGINEER – EMBEDDED SOFTWARE DESIGN

 

Our client in the Metal Manufacturing field and based in Mississauga has asked us to help them source and place a number of Software Engineers with experience in Embedded Software Design for 18 month contract assignments.

 

The role will see you perform the following duties:

 

-Provide existing software project engineering and improvement support

-Host software design reviews and code reviews.

-Research and recommend software development tools to management.

-Perform project risk analysis.

-Develop software to be implemented in internal and customer product lines and test and maintain that Software.

 -Analyze functional requirements and translate them to product design

-Manage existing software product improvement projects

-Develop concepts and architecture for new software products

-Write and test protocols and design verification testing for product lines, conduct unit testing and resolves  and issues that arise

 

To be successful in this role you would need to have at least 5 years experience in the following areas:

 

-Real time C/C++ software / embedded SW design and development for the ARM processor in a Linux environment

-Software development experience in Linux operating systems

-Demonstrated abilities using debuggers, emulators, and compilers/assemblers

-Strong Foundation in Object-oriented design and programming

-Proficient in developing Qt Framework, Qt/QML and scripting.

-Understanding good software design and documentation practices

-Experience with software configuration management and defect management tools

-Excellent code documentation and commenting skills

-Excellent debug and troubleshooting skills

-Working knowledge and practice in software validation practices

 -Experience with variety of communication interfaces and protocols CAN, Modbus TCP, UDP, TCP/IP, etc.)

Our client a climate controls & security global leader in building automation systems is looking to hire a fulltime permanent BAS designer.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will be responsible for the complete engineering design of automatic temperature control and energy management systems. Also, the designer will produce control schematics, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, schedules, software design and bill of material lists by applying automatic temperature and energy management products in accordance with project specifications. Typical projects include large schools, larger buildings and central plant designs.

Additionally, you will review internal project estimates, contract (mechanical and electrical) plans and coordinate design requirements with field installation team members.

 

Specific responsibilities for this position include:

  • Use company or customer design standards to create project shop drawings per project documentation
  • Attend the Sales to Operations Turnover Meeting and accept full responsibility for the project design documents
  • Selects materials including DDC modules, field sensing and control devices, dampers and valves to meet the project requirements, specifications, codes and customer standards
  • Submit material order forms for all project required materials to the purchasing group, if required
  • Completes each assigned project focusing on customer satisfaction and specification compliance while trying to maintain budgetary guidelines. Identify all projects that do not meet the budget and itemize the budget variances

 

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

General Functions

The Commissioning Lead is accountable for development and execution of commissioning packages for modifications performed.

This includes all aspects of commissioning such as initiating, planning, implementing and monitoring all stages of the commissioning phase of a project from inception to final close out.

  • Produce Commissioning Packages, including procedures, logic diagram and commissioning specifications and objectives.
  • Perform pre-commissioning field inspections.

  • Work with Project Lead for modification to develop commissioning package and to schedule commissioning activities to support overall project plan.
  • Identify resource requirements to support commissioning.

  • Provide oversight and input to safe work planning including impacts to nuclear safety, radiation safety, conventional safety and environmental safety.
  • Integrate commissioning tasks into station work control processes.
  • Provide oversight of station support related to commissioning execution including documentation and training of station staff.
  • Ensure project is integrated with station processes as required such as MS-1, MS-2, MA-2 and MA-3.
  • Monitor field execution to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
  • Track deficiencies identified in commissioning phase through to completion.
  • Prepare final report of commissioning activities.
  • Oversee turnover of modification to Operations.
  • Expeditiously close-out Commissioning Package.

   Mandatory Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering with two (2) years field experience
  • Engineering field experience in excess of two (2) years.
  • Commissioning experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Visio and SAP.
  • Nuclear experience is a strong asset.
  • Experience with writing procedures for field execution considered an asset.
