Job Purpose:

Technical Controller will be responsible for US GAAP compliance, financial statement preparation, best practice procedures, business management and controllership project management.

Responsibilities:

  • Be well versed in accounting principles, particularly revenue recognition and inventory costing.
  • Have a solid foundation to research technical matters and arrive at GAAP compliant recommendations and implement them as needed.
  • Ensure the business is compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Understand key business risks and internal control framework to focus efforts and look forward.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the financial statements and prepare analysis and commentary.
  • Assist with standard and policy implementations/changes.
  • Function as a liaison with auditors.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, including necessary journal entries.
  • Assist in monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
  • Support ad hoc analysis requests.

Qualifications/Requirements:

It is an extraordinary opportunity for a mature leader with ten to fifteen years of accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and external stakeholders.

Other qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • CPA and MBA preferred
  • Financial systems expertise
  • Solid, current knowledge of GAAP

 

HR Coordinator

Our client is an Engineering company, providing innovative geotechnical solutions across projects in North America. Through this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a new project for which they are ramping up hiring and recruiting of engineering professionals.

The role can be based out of Edmonton or their Vancouver office.

The ideal candidate will have experience doing the following:

  • Assist with advertising to recruit identified positions;
  • Complete reference checks as required;
  • Prepare employment agreements specific to project terms;
  • Set up employees within Information Technology systems (email, HR directory);
  • Activate new cell phone users as required and deploy hardware;
  • Onboard ensuring new hire packages are completed and provide all files to payroll department;
  • Complete orientations;
  • Arrange all pre-access requirements including copies of training, D&A testing, etc.
  • Ensure safety department have all certifications on file (training matrix);
  • Assist Operations with union dispatch requisitions;
  • Coordinate flight and camp requirements;
  • Other duties as required.

Commissioning Lead

Our client a leader in the Nuclear industry is currently seeking a Commission Lead  The details are as follows:

General Functions

The Commissioning Lead is accountable for development and execution of commissioning packages for modifications performed.

This includes all aspects of commissioning such as initiating, planning, implementing and monitoring all stages of the commissioning phase of a project from inception to final close out.

 Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Produce Commissioning Packages, including procedures, logic diagram and commissioning specifications and objectives.
  • Perform pre-commissioning field inspections.
  • Work with modification design staff, as required, to develop commissioning package.
  • Work with Project Lead for modification to develop commissioning package and to schedule commissioning activities to support overall project plan.
  • Identify resource requirements to support commissioning.
  • Develop integrated, logically-tied, resource-loaded schedule.
  • Provide oversight and input to safe work planning including impacts to nuclear safety, radiation safety, conventional safety and environmental safety.
  • Integrate commissioning tasks into station work control processes.
  • Provide oversight of station support related to commissioning execution including documentation and training of station staff.
  • Ensure project is integrated with station processes as required such as MS-1, MS-2, MA-2 and MA-3.
  • Monitor field execution to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
  • Track deficiencies identified in commissioning phase through to completion.
  • Prepare final report of commissioning activities.
  • Oversee turnover of modification to Operations.
  • Expeditiously close-out Commissioning Package.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of commissioning processes and procedures.
  • Document and distribute lessons learned.
  • Participate or lead incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Implement the corrective management process.
  • Provide support to other Commissioning Leads, as required.

   Mandatory Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering with two (2) years field experience
  • Engineering field experience in excess of two (2) years.
  • Commissioning experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Visio and SAP.
  • Nuclear experience is a strong asset.
  • Experience with writing procedures for field execution considered an asset.
