Ian Martin Workforce is working with a Multi-Service Mechanical company that assist their clients when they are doing large projects and need additional people. Work can include Equipment Installs, Service and Repairs, Machine Building, Moving Equipment, Hoisting and Rigging, Systems Integrations and Troubleshooting.

As their new Journeyman Millwright, you will enjoy building and assembling machinery.  You will highly experienced in Hydraulic and Pneumatics and have working knowledge of sizing, competent requirements, fabrication of flex and rigid lines, integration and troubleshooting of full systems.  Having a working knowledge of Piping Systems and/or Pipefitting experience would be an advantage. 

 

What you will be doing…

  • Taking direction from Site Supervisor and Lead Hand
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings to build new and existing equipment
  • Working alongside other trades to complete site-specific tasks
  • Occasionally traveling to different job sites for installation

Your tasks will include:

  • Reporting to the Production Supervisor and responsible for the operation of CNC machines in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Set up, troubleshoot and/or operate one or more of the following machine(s), using vises, fixtures, chucks, etc., concurrently in assigned area under limited supervision: CNC Mill, Bandsaw, Manual Mill, Manual Drill Press, and other power tools. 
  • Read and interpret technical drawings to verify parts, machine and production is setup to achieved conforming parts at the correct cycle time.   
  • May transfer CNC programs between CNC equipment.  Makes minor changes to existing programs in accordance with established procedures by hand at the controller.

Qualifications

  • Certification of Qualification Journeyman Machinist (429A) preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience using 4 and 5 axis lathes, mills, long lathes, and/or mill/turn machines in stainless steel
  • Manufacture precision-machined components working to tolerances of +/- .0002”
  • Previous experience in Nuclear, Aerospace or Defense industries is considered an asset
  • Proficiency interpreting complex manufacturing drawings with GDT specifications
  • Ability to work independently to complete assignments promptly while maintaining the high standards required for the industry
  • Demonstrated ability to adaptable team player with strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • May transfer CNC programs between CNC equipment.  Makes minor changes to existing programs in accordance with established procedures by hand at the controller.

Qualifications

  • Certification of Qualification Journeyman Machinist (429A) preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience using 4 and 5 axis lathes, long lathes, and/or mill/turn machines in stainless steel

  • Manufacture precision-machined components working to tolerances of +/- .0002”

As an electrical engineer, you are accountable for all electrical aspects of engineering necessary to deliver custom water treatment systems to industrial or municipal customers.  You will work and collaborate with a dedicated team of engineers and designers from North America and India to ensure on time and on budget execution of the electrical engineering tasks on the project. 

As an electrical engineer, you represent the engineering organization in working with the Lead Engineer (LE) to manage and steer the project toward successful completion throughout all phases of the project including engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning/startup; while complying to company standards, project requirements, and applicable codes. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Support Lead Engineer in discussions with customers. Resolve technical issues and provide input for change requests as needed. Responsible for change management and revision control for the project including communication of customer changes to the appropriate team disciplines and ensure such changes are considered throughout each stage of design, approval and construction.
  • Interact directly with the client and other internal/external stakeholders to manage expectations and deliver projects with highest quality. Interact directly with Client engineering resource support in India for all project execution tasks.
  • Review project specifications and incorporate requirements into Client design and equipment / procurement specifications.
  • Take ownership of the P&ID’s and the integration of the project across electrical engineering. Perform design and develop documents including Single Line Diagrams, IO Lists, Electrical Schematics, Loop diagrams, Logic diagrams, Panel Layout Diagrams, Shutdown Keys, Loop Diagrams, Instrument Indices, Setpoint Lists, DCS and PLC Design, Instrument Location and Installation Design.
  • Develop control system architecture for PLC and HMI systems and select appropriate hardware. Develop panel layouts. Develop the I&C portion of P&ID’s. Attend P&ID review and HAZOP meetings with internal teams and customers.
  • Develop Bill of Material and process through SAP. Interface with suppliers for preliminary costing, instrument component selection, and submittal document review. Interface with customers regarding I&C designs and submitted design documents.
  • Understand and assess project specific area classification requirements and apply correct solution.
  • Support commercial engineers, as well as to other engineers within the team to develop their technical and commercial expertise.
  • Support project execution through review of the control documents, engineering drawings, and manuals for projects. Support plant commissioning and performance testing. Document lesson learned from issues during commissioning and provide feedback to ICE Engineering team and PM.

Requirements:

With an expert level of understanding of system engineering including P&ID development, engineering deliverables and document control, you also need:

  • Experience with the following markets: municipal water and wastewater treatment, EPC projects, oil & gas, chemical, or power.
  • Strong aptitude for planning, organizing, scheduling, assigning and evaluating the work of subordinates coupled with clear, concise communication and presentation skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel 20% of the time within US and Canada.
  • Comfortable working in a multiple disciplinary team environment across different offices/geographical regions.

  • Attend scheduled shifts on a regular basis.

  • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges and tools, using machine tools and / or hand tools.

Quality Control Manager

Position Overview:

The Quality Control Manager, reporting to the General Manager, will be responsible for developing, implementing and improving all in-process and final inspection processes with a mindset to “Manufacture Quality” and meet delivery commitments.  The Quality Control Manager shall validate that all manufactured and assembled components meet all customer requirements and are compliant with all appropriate requirements of the ASME Section III Code, ISO9001:2008, CSA N285.0 and CAN3-CSA Z299.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Lead, Manage and Coach the Quality Control team comprising QC Inspectors, CMM programmers, and Quality Engineers.
    • Guide Engineering and Production in the development of Inspection Rationalization Plans which incorporate the right level of inspection into all Work Instructions and MCSs.
    • Using CMM and in-process inspection results, incorporate HIGH/LOW reaction plans into the MCSs to enable CNC machinists to keep process variations within acceptable limits. 
    • When there is a Non-Conformance, lead Root Cause Analysis discussions with cross-functional teams and initiate immediate and appropriate Corrective Actions with the intention of focusing on opportunities for rework and process improvement before opening an NCR.
    • Stratify NCRs by Rework and Scrap and provide recommendations to Engineering regarding any required DDRs. 
    • Launch and lead the monthly Corrective Action Board meeting to review monthly metrics for NCR’s, Rework and Scrap. 
    • Support Continuous Improvement activities within the Company to optimize product flow, minimize waste and maximize profitability.
    • Support the Program Managers, Engineering Manager, Production Program Managers, and Master Scheduler in all matters requiring technical support and collaboration to meet Company objectives.
  • Provide technical support and advice to other departments including interpretations of standards and codes of practice, dispositioning non-conforming material and components. 
  • Perform other duties as required by the Quality Assurance Manager and General Manager.

 

Administration:

  • Responsible for employee relations which includes, but is not limited to, hiring, work direction, mentoring, coaching, disciplining and the identification of training needs for employees.
  • Manage and mentor employees.  This includes setting performance targets and establishing goals each year with employees and conducting performance reviews as required by company policy.
  • Ensure site compliance to all labour, human rights, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Ensures that all employees are suitably trained/qualified/licensed for the various tasks and jobs they must complete. 
  • Responsible for reporting any personal workplace injuries immediately and completing accident reports for injuries reported by your direct reports.
  • Responsible for addressing safety concerns and hazards raised by direct reports with the support of the General Manager.
  • Maintains an acceptable level of performance by following established policies and procedures, and participating in continuous improvement efforts by supporting and implementing new ideas.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with high standing from a recognized university or equivalent experience and education.
  • Seven to 10 years of experience working in either the Candu nuclear, aerospace or defence industries
  • Five years of experience working in a quality management or supervisory role.
  • Experience working with CNC precision-machined components and related processes including heat treatment, plating, assembly and testing activities an asset
  • Understanding of ASME Section III Code and the ISO9001:2008, CSA N285.0 and CAN3-CSA Z299 quality standards.
  • Familiarity with components and tooling for a Candu reactor would be an asset.
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting engineering component drawings including a very strong understanding of metrology and GD&T.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • To select tools and design fixtures to support the creation and modification of CNC programs using Mastercam for a variety of machine tool configurations including 5 axis and 3 + 2 axis milling machines.
  • Create comprehensive tool path controls for our requirements.
  • Develop detailed work instructions including Solidworks CAD drawings, Inspection Test Procedures (ITPs), and Material Control Sheets to lead the process to manufacture and assemble these complex precision-machined components.
  • Interface with manufacturing, quality engineering and production supervision to ensure that all manufacturing processes are proven prior to the start of production.
  • Work with the CNC Machinists in completing the part setup sheets to lock in the setup. 
  • Work with the manufacturing engineers, and Machinists to perform time studies, Lean 5S events to highlight the waste (inefficiency, rework, improper tool setup) and develop solutions before implementing.
  • Develop and launch the process/engineering change request process.
  • Design component jigs, fixtures and test rigs.
  • Review project budgets and provide cost and timing estimates to project managers.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated mastery of Mastercam programming for 5 and 2+3 axis machines.
  • Have a minimum of three to five years of experience in a similar programming role.
  • Knowledge of Mastercam will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of ASME Code, ISO 9001, CSA N285.0 and Z299 quality programs is an asset.
  • Experience with manufacturing precision-machined components and related processes including heat treatment, plating, assembly and testing activities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
