This is an ideal position for someone that is looking for a long-term position in Sudbury, Ontario as this will start on contract and then transfer to permanent position once probationary period has been completed. What you’ll be doing…

  • Installation, Troubleshooting and Systems Testing
  • Setting up Wi-Fi and Fibre Optics Cables
  • Maintaining Substations
  • Reading blueprints and technical drawings
  • Assisting in Troubleshooting underground equipment
  • Setting up Remote Controls
  • Participating in all safety and shift discussions

Why this is the job for you…

  • Licensed 309A and/or 442A Journeyman Electrician (Red Seal an asset)
  • A minimum of 6 months of relevant Underground experience including Heavy Industrial Maintenance; Construction could be considered
  • Working knowledge of PLCs required, programming would be an asset but not required

Construction Coordinator

Our mining client is looking for a Construction Coordinator to work in conjunction with other members of the construction management team (CMT), to ensure contractors are working in a safe manner abiding by all safety program requirements. This is a contract position based in Port Hope, Ontario.

What you will be doing…

  • Participate in constructability reviews ensuring constructability issues or potential issues get appropriately captured and communicated to the engineering team.
  • Assist the CMT and contractors in the development of Level 4/Level 5 construction schedules and review submitted schedules in the native file format to ensure they have sound logic and are appropriately resourced.
  • Analyze weekly schedule submissions for issues and productivity optimization and publish 1 week and 3 week look-ahead.
  • Maintain productivity metrics on all work and maintain the productivity improvement initiatives log.
  • Responsible to verify claimed schedule progress (based on established rules of credit).
  • Responsible for regularly reporting construction progress to the project team (S curve and productivity information).
  • Work with the CMT to identify and resolve conflicts between work packages, across projects and with operation activities.
  • Support CMT superintendents in the field as required.
  • Work with the commissioning team to ensure/enable efficient turnover from construction to commission.
  • Coordinate with superintendents and materials leads to ensure construction materials are on-site to meet schedule needs.

What you will need to succeed…

  • Prior experience working in the capacity of a construction coordinator on industrial projects.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Project and Primavera.
  • Proficient with computers, specifically MS Office.
  • Previous project management or construction management experience considered an asset.

Health and Safety Advisor

The Opportunity: 

The primary role of the incumbent will be to provide technical support and training to staff and contractors, to coordinate the development and implementation of the Project’s Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Management System and to provide advice and assistance to enable the Integrated Owner’s team to achieve zero harm at the construction site. The incumbent will be responsible to assist with the development and implementation of a number of programs and plans prior to and during construction and commissioning.

The successful candidate will work closely with the integrated team and contractors, to ensure they understand and follow the applicable legislative requirements. They will also monitor that all parties are complying with the HSER requirements of the Project, by auditing performance vs. the HSER Plan for compliance, and effectiveness of risk management programs, policies and procedures in the field.

Accountabilities:

  • Assist the Project team and stakeholders with interpretation of HSE Management Systems and rules; assist in communication with Plant HSER resources.
  • Field visits to site to ensure compliance to Regulations, standards as applicable, and the Project HSER program.
  • Coordinate the field implementation and management of the specific NAPG HSER  Execution Plan for Construction and Commissioning, including related project commitments.
  • Conduct field assurance audits for key risk controls to assess effectiveness.
  • Conduct audits of the risk management activities of contractors.
  • Tracking of responses, and flagging/challenging where responses are backlogged, or inappropriate.
  • Coaching of individuals in the project within the principles and values of the Project
  • Regular interaction and advice to project personnel and workplace sites
  • Participation and/or review of event analysis as assigned, for appropriate and timely responses
  • Participation in review of accuracy of project KPIs for HSER
  • Monitor the Projects MOL Correspondence and track project responses. Flag concerns with content or timelines to PM team
  • Review Health programs of the integrated team legislation for compliance, as well as follow-up to workplace concerns
  • Updating and modification of HSER related documents and tools for stakeholders as required
  • Audit project team and contractor compliance and readiness on emergency preparedness (training, knowledge and drills)
  • In conjunction with project management and/or project contractors, coordinate thorough analysis of all incidents and actively participate in High Potential event analysis using ICAM model of analysis
  • Conduct unscheduled and scheduled inspections of work areas in conjunction with project management contractors and employees as appropriate

Requirements:

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in an underground safety and health advisory role; Supervisor experience considered an asset.

Training:  Underground Common Core required

Certification: CRSP or CSP preferred; other designations such as CHSC, CHSO, NCSO considered an asset

The Opportunity:

Provide planning and scheduling services to support all surface capital projects under the North Atlantic Project Group. The scope of the work is from the conceptual to the planning and implementation phases in order to ensure that projects present a realistic project timeline. These timelines will be used to develop FEL 3 studies and full project execution plans. The quality and quantity of the planning and scheduling have a direct impact on the success of the projects.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for developing a realistic project plan and schedule to meet the project objectives.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all standard procedures and systems for project planning and scheduling are followed, per the Project Delivery System (PDS).
  • Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the planning and scheduling functions across all work locations and ensuring the schedules are integrated into one schedule.
  • Responsible for ensuring that proper WBS, coding and resources are integrated into the schedule.
  • Implementing project planning procedures in accordance with standards as well as preparing and maintaining the timeline for development and setup of various schedules.
  • Ensuring plans and schedules are prepared and integrated according to project standards and contract requirements.
  • Has excellent knowledge of Primavera P6 and provides overview and expert advice for the use of
  • Primavera and Microsoft Project on various capital projects.
  • Performs regular quality checks and signs off on project schedules.
  • Reviews contracted 3rd party work plans and schedules for accuracy, thoroughness and completion.
  • Review and monitor planning and scheduling initiatives in support of the PDS throughout the life of the project.
  • Provide training for scheduler/planners on Primavera and on the PDS project scheduling guideline.

The position of VBME Commissioning Technical Support – Completion coordinates the Completion

activities as it pertains to the field execution of project tasks. The position will be a direct report to the

VBME Completions System Lead.

The successful candidate will be responsible for Day to day duties and deliverables as follows: 

 

Responsible for implementation on a day to day basis of a strong health and safety culture in line

with  Safety and Health and Environment management system.

· Participate in construction meetings.

· Champion the completion system and process.

· Provide guidance on the use of the electronic completion system.

· Calling and organizing Final Walk-Down.

· Maintain construction & commissioning punch lists;

· Facilitate partial turnover process between construction and pre-commissioning / commissioning.

· Overall coordination & agreement between construction and commissioning for sub-system turnover.

· Driving final subsystem completion for construction.

· Communicate and work collaboratively with various project disciplines and the operating group.

Essential Skills / Qualifications & Assets:

5+ years on industrial projects with a minimum of 2 years as a Completions Engineer/Lead

· Strong understanding of construction and commissioning activities as it pertains to project completion and turnover.

· Previous field level experience on completions / turnover process on large projects.

· Previous experience with Commissioning’s completions / turnover group is seen as an asset.

· Previous experience with electronic completion systems.

· Comfortable working in a team-based environment while possessing the ability to manage and prioritize day to day duties and deliverables.

· Demonstrate proficiency in the use Windows & Outlook.

· Strong Organization Skills

· Strong Communication Skills, both Written & Oral

Work Site and Schedule

 

  • Position is based in Voisey’s Bay, the shift schedule is 2 weeks in 2weeks out, working 12hr days, for the 14days on site. The rotation / shift / schedule may change to meet the needs of the project execution effort. You may be expected to work from the St. John’s office from time to time.
  • The place of work will be Voisey’s Bay Site in Labradour, as a fly in / fly out operation, all employees will be flown to/from designated pick up / drop off points in Newfoundland and Labrador on a chartered service to site at no cost.
