Job Overview

Qualifications

This position requires sound knowledge of the principles, processes and management associated with nuclear generation facilities as well as business and project management.

Description:

On behalf of its client, Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), at its Historic Waste Program (HWP) Management Office in Port Hope, implements federal programs and projects related to the safe management of historic low-level waste (LLW) across Canada. The scope of work includes characterization, cleanup and interim remedial work at historic waste sites in Canada as well as the construction, operation and environmental monitoring of waste storage facilities. The project is sponsored by Natural Resources Canada, and led by CNL. CNL provides high-level strategic direction and oversight to the project via the General Manager of the HWP.

An integral intermediate-level role supporting the delivery of various HWP projects is the position of Project Control Coordinator (PCC). The PCC helps to establish and adhere to the project management systems used in the planning and control of projects – our growing team requires 2 such individuals!  PCCs are responsible for leading production of or updates to Work Breakdown Structures, project schedules, cost estimates, and various control mechanisms.  S/he routinely performs analysis and progress monitoring and reporting, while acting as an important resource for their Project Manager.  The PCC reports to the Program & Project Controls Lead and interacts daily with work package leaders (Project Manager and/or Project Lead), gathering and analyzing critical project performance information, investigating variances and initiating corrective actions.  The PCC may also help lead in the preparation of scope, schedule and cost management plans, writing reports, chairing meetings and delivering presentations.  The PCC may also be required to supervise or mentor more junior staff, assume leadership roles in peer groups, and/or take on other duties as assigned by management.

DUTIES

  • Coordinate the scope definition and prepare the Work Breakdown Structure

QUALIFICATIONS

7. Mentorship of new RP staff and knowledge  transfer – to ensure valuable RP knowledge and operating experience are transferred and retained within the Refurbishment RP organization.
