Will provide oversight of fabrication activities of the Plasma Facing Component Graphite Tiles and Metal Components at the MWI Carbon & Graphite Solutions fabrication facility located in Rochester, NY, under the direction of PPPL engineers at the Lab in Princeton. The incumbent is needed for 8 hours per day one day per week (with possible second shift or weekend activity) from June 1 to Oct 15.

 

Job Purpose:

  • The incumbent will provide oversight of fabrication activities of the Plasma Facing Component Graphite Tiles and Metal Components at the Stillwater Technologies, LLC fabrication facility located in Rochester, NY, under the direction of PPPL engineers at the Lab in Princeton.
  • The incumbent is needed for 8 hours per day one day per week (with possible second shift or weekend activity) from June 1 to Oct 15.

 

Core Duties:

This work shall be principally guided by standards and practices in the industry of industrial controls. The subcontractor will:

  • Provide a single point of contact for any communication between PPPL and the Subcontractor
  • Provide all labor necessary to complete the proposed work in accordance with the Statement of Work, the referenced standards and the project requirements. Reviewed procedures, specifications, drawings
  • Monitor procedure compliance
  • Witness hold points and provide approval to proceed with Princeton Technical Representative concurrence
  • Facilitate issues raised by the subcontractor that require action by PPPL
  • Stop work if necessary at factory if Holtec is non-compliant with procedures and standards
  • Maintain photographic record and PPPL Daily Log and provided daily reports.
  • Participate in weekly status meetings with ORT/Holtec and PPPL
  • Be available on-site during working hours in conjunction with the Holtec fabrication efforts at least full time, 5 days per week with the potential of additional weekend work.
  • Participate in weekly PPPL CSC status meetings and daily coordination meetings.
  • Participate in remote training at the beginning of the project

 

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a machine shop supervisor with high school diploma; OR 5 years as an engineer, with experience in large fabrication and CNC machining with Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering

The Piping Engineer will be responsible for the design of mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors. Projects will involve the design, development and test of mechanical equipment for automated and semi-automated fueling machines, robotic systems, and maintenance tooling for CANDU reactors and related systems. 

Other job duties include:

  • Providing execution of design and analysis of complex CANDU piping systems from concept to issue of final engineering documents.

  • Professional Engineer registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
