Electronics Engineer

This is a unique role that broadens the current Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineering department’s expertise into the Electronics Engineering discipline.

As a knowledgeable Electronics Engineer you will work on technically challenging projects as a member of the E&C Engineering team. You will be responsible for the estimating, planning, and design of electronic based solutions and equipment in CANDU reactors.

 

Responsibilities for this role include:

·       Design modern replacements for legacy microprocessor or computer-based control systems.

·       Upgrade and maintain legacy control systems to extend their service life.

·       Provide follow-up support and service of installed systems.

·       Provide oversight and technical administration of suppliers

 

The ideal candidate will be a multi-talented individual capable and willing to take on additional challenging assignments, possibly including:

Our client who is a leader in the North American Power and Energy market has an immediate need for a Solution Architect. This is a ten (10) month contract located at their office in Burnaby. The role will be remote until the pandemic restrictions are lifted.

This position is responsible for providing architecture support and services for the delivery of several Utility Operational Technology (OT) projects.

Experience and Role Accountabilities

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of work experience as a solution or enterprise architect on large technology projects or equivalent.

Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineering Specialist is responsible for the estimating and execution of a broad range of manufacturing projects from commercial and custom manufactured parts to sophisticated nuclear equipment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for custom-engineered manufacturing projects including electro-mechanical automation, tooling, welded fabrications, machining, field services, testing.
  • Provide manufacturing inputs to the design process, participate in manufacturability reviews to identify manufacturing cost or schedule improvements during product design.
  • Plan and lead jobs through manufacturing including machining, welding, assembly and test.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College/University graduate in an Engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge and experience with machining (conventional + CNC/CAM), fitting/welding, assembly and materials including stainless steels, Al-bronze, nickel alloys, zirconium, etc.

Our client who is a leader in the North American Power and Energy market has an immediate need for an SAP WM / QM Functional Consultant. This is an eleven (11) month contract located at their office in Vancouver. The role will be remote until the pandemic restrictions are lifted.

The IT SAP Functional Consultant Level 2 provides solution leadership on SAP projects/initiatives to improve/expand SAP footprint, and performs operational activities including sustainment, maintenance, administration and training in specific areas of expertise of SAP functional modules and add-ons to contribute in achieving BC Hydro’s organizational objectives.

Experience and Role Accountabilities:

• A minimum five (5) years of SAP experience including functional consultant role experience in:

Safety Basis Analyst

This consists of an Evaluation of the Safety of the Situation (ESS), and a Basis of Interim Operation (BIO)/ Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) document.

The scope of work is as follows:

Prepare an Evaluation of the Safety of the Situation (ESS) to address the discovery of unexpected tritium inventory found captured in molecular sieve material on dryer beds located in the basement of the D-Site facility. This discovery is a potential inadequacy of the existing safety analysis (PISA) of this facility. The ESS is to be prepared using DOE G 424.1-1B, 6/12/2013 (Implementation Guide for Use in Addressing Unreviewed Safety Question Requirements) Attachment C as a guide. The ESS must be approved by DOE.

Prepare a Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) for Interim Operations for the dryer bed equipment in accordance with the guidelines of DOE-STD-3011-2016 (Preparation of Documented Safety Analysis for Interim Operations at DOE Nuclear Facilities) for deactivation of a nuclear facility. A DSA prepared in accordance with this Standard is an acceptable form of Documented Safety Analysis for nuclear facility deactivation in accordance with Table 2 of Appendix A, General Statement of Safety Policy, to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 830, Nuclear Safety Management, Subpart B, Safety Basis Requirements. The DSA must address the current status of the equipment described in the Background section above, the planned transfer of the molecular sieve material to containers qualified for transport and disposal or recovery, and additional sampling efforts. The DSA document must be approved by DOE.

  • Draft ESS and DSA Documents will be provided on the schedule below.

Accountabilities Include:

  • Ensure projects adhere to the Capital Delivery process for the timely creation and approval of the Project Execution Plan which includes preliminary engineering, baseline schedule, detailed cost estimate, risk profile and resource strategy.
  • Manage projects to ensure that they continue to be appropriately assessed, developed, planned, resourced and scheduled in a timely and cost effective manner in order to ensure best value.

  • Initiate, develop and manage framework contracts for external development and design resource in order to ensure high levels of efficiency, service and quality and to build innovation and best practice.
  • Identify and build future design capability and resources to support the capital delivery plan, ensuring a fit for purpose approach, succession planning and training.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify and respond appropriately to any potential hazards, incidents or circumstances that impact the safety, wellbeing and working environment of any complex construction projects within own jurisdiction.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in natural gas operations engineering, project management, utility construction or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A Bachelors degree required in an engineering discipline and/or significant relevant project management, engineering and construction experience in all aspects of utility natural gas construction operations. Masters degree in engineering discipline, MBA or relevant equivalent preferred.
  • Preference given to candidates with a Professional Engineers license and/or Certified Project Management Professional.
  • Considerable proven experience leading or direct project development and design including milestone management, resourcing, affordability, risk management, reporting and possess team leadership and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of leadership, influencing, change management, personal initiative, integrity and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner.

Associate Lab Technician

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to perform bench analyses, basic laboratory maintenance tasks and, with direction, some complex technical assignments in the Laboratory Chemistry area.  

This is a long term contract with a state of the art. ISO 9001 registered laboratory that provides analytical testing on a variety of chemicals, fluids, gasses and much more.

Responsibilities Include

  • Maintain and enhance a safe working environment while achieving targeted production with high quality results.
