Our client plays a vital role in Alberta's Energy Industry by ensuring public safety and the environment – and contributing to responsible, efficient, and safe energy development. Has an immediate need for a Project Manager with a portfolio focused on web development projects. This individual will be responsible for a project that will design and develop a new website for our client, and will also lead a group for a project that will improve our client's compliance dashboard. This is a contract position for seven (7) months located in Calgary, Alberta.

Responsibilities

The Project Manager will be accountable for:

  • Planning, leading, organizing, and motivating the project team.
  • Achieving high performance and quality.
  • Adhering to AER's IT delivery methodology.
  • Engaging/participating in the PM Center of Excellence.

Project Planning and Management:

  • Collaborating with Project and Business SMEs to define project deliverables, estimates, and schedule.
  • Organizing and leading project status and update meetings.
  • Compiling and distributing weekly status and issue reports.
  • Managing risks, issues, and resource constraints.
  • Addressing deviations from plans and conducting delivery planning.

Project Leadership includes:

  • Assisting leadership in managing customer expectations for deliverables.
  • Handling stakeholder communications and project governance.

Team Management responsibilities encompass:

  • Ensuring effective collaboration within the core delivery team.
  • Nurturing team development and accountability.
  • Removing obstacles to work progress.
  • Optimizing organizational resources for project capacity.
  • Guiding and leading team members towards project goals.

Deliverables

  • Creation and completion of project plans and schedules
  • Distribution of project status reports including budgetary management
  • Management of risks and issues
  • Stakeholder analysis and communications
  • Resource allocation and management
  • Quality Assurance
  • Lessons learned and continuous improvement.
  • Closure and transition

Qualifications

Must Haves

  • Proven track record of working on medium to large enterprise projects which have involved integration with existing systems or custom development.
  • Ability to manage business outcomes and stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups both technical and business.
  • Excellent communication skills, pro-active problem solver and collaborative team player.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  • Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects.
  • Able to work independently to deliver results while also working collaboratively within a technical team to delivery high quality work.
  • Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Recognized PM Certification required.
  • PROSCI certification is a nice to have.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience implementing custom web design and development type solutions as well as other custom developed solutions.
  • Experience working with third party vendors to implement enterprise-wide solutions.
  • Understanding of Drupal and Azure Cloud technology
