Our market leading energy client has an immediate need for Storage Expert, an experienced systems expert to perform daily server storage, storage configuration, administration, file archiving, capacity, availability planning, performance tuning, system health checks, data backup, and date recovery.

This is a 4-month contract located in Calgary, Alberta.

How you will bring value…

You will be providing senior mentorship to the IT Operations team, building improvements in our server storage practices while maintaining these critical systems to ensure reliability and availability to all client computing. Also transfer expertise, knowledge on caring for the critical function to other team members to enhance depth of support. 

What you will be doing…

  • The Infrastructure Services team focuses on technologies found within the organization’s core computing infrastructure including, but not limited to, Server & SAN provisioning, mirroring or replication, enterprise backup solutions, and business continuity / disaster recovery environments. The Infrastructure Services team concentrates on the following technologies: Servers, Storage, SAN, VMware, Citrix, Azure Cloud operations and Microsoft Server Solutions (SQL, Exchange, Skype for Business, Active Directory, System Center).
  • The Analyst should have specializations in one or more of the following areas: Cisco UCS, EMC VNX, VPLEX, VBLOCK, Data Domain, Networker Enterprise Backup & Recovery, Server Virtualization, VMWare and Business Continuity/ Disaster Recovery. 
  • Actively support IT Operations goal of providing reliable, highly available technology during office hours and rotational off-hour support.
  • Provide Tier 3 technical support, diagnosis and troubleshooting to external customers, helpdesk, and internal Development and QA teams.
  • Ensure customer business needs and service requests are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple high priority activities and provide creative and effective solutions to problems rapidly, on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure optimal performance, reliability, availability and security of the company’s data and IT infrastructure by continuously monitoring the IT environment, with close attention to capacity and performance.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of IT Infrastructure, encompassing server, storage, Citrix, Active Directory, Exchange, server patching, Datacenter and related technologies and services.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of documentation related to administrative and troubleshooting procedures, disaster recovery planning, operational procedures, etc. 
  • Participate in Change Management meeting and processes.
  • Assist in designing, implementing and supporting highly available, redundant solutions for large enterprise data center engagements with ~1,000 virtual servers in a multi-site environment.
  • Participation in IS Infrastructure Services team discussions, meeting and activities.
  • Support IT Operations troubleshooting, initiatives and audits.

What you will need to succeed…

Must Haves

  • Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent education and 5 years’ experience in IT infrastructure support analyst position.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in enterprise server, storage, virtualization, and network environment.  
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Customer focused and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work across functional stakeholders in IS and business.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/familiarity in the following areas:  
    • Server and Storage admin: HP server solutions including blade systems, Cisco UCS, EMC VNX, Networker, Data Domain, and Commvault.
    • Application and Operating Systems: Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, including DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Exchange, SCCM, SCOM, Skype for Business; VMware ESX.
    • Knowledge and awareness of ITIL process within an IT Technical Services environment.

  • This role has responsibility for server, storage infrastructure within Calgary and Edmonton offices.
  • Two core data centers for Production and DR are located in Calgary and a secondary data center for the Edmonton office.
  • This role requires ability to work extended hours on a rotational basis.
  • Experience in the Alberta oil and gas industry and/or a regulatory environment as an asset.
  • Public cloud skillset on AWS or Azure as an asset.

How you will bring value…

Test Automation Developer will be responsible to understand the long-term application portfolio plans and be responsible for the test automation of the technology solutions defined within that plan. The Test Automation Developer plans, proposes, executes, and delivers test automation plans, test automation scripting, and best practices that align to technical solutions and specifications. The role advocates test automation components and solutions for the applications they support to deliver. The role will be an active participant in the SDLC of technology solutions.

What you will be doing…

  • The Test Automation Developer is responsible for providing technical expertise and support for test automation practices and development for complex business systems.
  • Provide guidance to foster an enabling and empowering work environment to a small delivery team.
  • Accountable for technical design, development, testing implementation, and support of test automation deliverables.

  • Be aware of the technology investment roadmap defined for the business domain impacted by assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Possess comprehensive understanding of, participate in, and champion test automation architecture its integration in the client’s standard SDLC.
  • Be able to read and understand the business component model diagrams, data model diagrams, infrastructure deployment models, logical application designs, and business process diagrams

Our market leading energy client has an immediate need for a Pipeline Engineer To oversee the design for pipelines and related facilities for expansion and maintenance capital projects executed by third party engineering firms to ensure compliance with Company standards and specifications and industry standards and managed to the project budget and schedule.

This Individual will act as a Liaison with other functional groups within Projects, Operations and Shared Services to ensure project and company requirements are achieved and incorporated into the design deliverables.

What you will be doing…

  • Ensures that all pipelines and associated facilities are designed in accordance with all regulations, applicable industry codes and corporate specifications and standards
  • Defines the scope, schedule and budget for the design and materials for pipeline projects
  • Manages the execution of the design deliverables by a third-party engineering firm against the project budget and schedule
  • Reviews and approves design deliverables for example drawings, technical reports and material listing sheets
  • Reviews vendor materials quotations, prepares technical evaluations, and recommends to the supervisor selections based on technical merit along with price and delivery.  For example, pipe, valves and fittings.
  • Reviews and approves fabrication and assembly approval drawings for engineered equipment, and other fabrications (prefabricated buildings, piping fabrications, pig trap barrels, etc.)
  • Reviews lessons learned from past projects and incorporates recommendations into future designs
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the team
  • Support department initiatives as required

What you will need to succeed…

Must Haves

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Civil or Chemical
  • P. Eng. designation in Canada
  • Capable of working independently, managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks accordingly
  • Problem solve issues through use of standards, modification of standards and/or previous experience
  • Effectively communicate technical issues and impacts to other technical and non-technical staff

Preferred

  • 7 – 10 years of natural gas pipeline design experience for onshore transmission lines in the U.S.
  • Working knowledge of industry codes in Canada and the US (CSA Z662, ASME B31.4, 49CFR195 (DOT Code), ASME BPVC Sect. VIII)
  • Familiarity and knowledge of materials standards & specifications (CSA, ANSI Ratings, ASME, API, MSS, etc.)
  • Horizontal Directional Drill Design (HDD), road bores, and applicable load/stress calculations experience
  • Experience working with geotechnical and hydrotechnical hazards

Our client who is a leader in the North American Energy market with a focus on innovation, commitment, and responsible energy production and environmental stewardship is looking for a Senior Industrial Control Systems Engineer to be part of a group that supports Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA and Operational Technology (OT).

How you will bring value…

In this role, you will be involved with developing and maintaining an OT cyber security program, reviewing and developing system architecture designs to support control and SCADA system communications, and providing ICS engineering technical support to Operations, Maintenance and Construction groups.

What you will be doing…

  • Prepare technical solutions to resolve highly complex and diverse ICS tasks across the Capital Power fleet. 
  • Maintain and optimize PI historian data, including system administration, graphic development, AF framework development and performance equation analytics.
  • Provide SCADA operations and maintenance support for Renewables and Control Center Operations.
  • Designs complex security and communication aspects of ICS upgrades and projects to maximize availability and mitigate risk of cyber threats. 
  • Contributes to the development and ongoing maintenance of the compliance program for NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection.
  • Provides input into the Industrial Controls business plan.
  • Provides technical direction to contract and maintenance staff to facilitate the completion of ICS related tasks. 
  • Reviews, applies, and develops internal standards.
  • Takes ownership and accountability for work tasks and deliverables. 
  • Participates in the peer review process to ensure the responsible practice of engineering at Capital Power, in compliance with the Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP).
  • Helps to ensure Management of Change (MOC) compliance and review for ICS related work across the fleet.
  • Works collaboratively and builds strong relationships with others.
  • Provides leadership, mentoring and guidance to junior staff including students and EITs. 
  • Acts to continually improve technical and management skillset through formal and informal training opportunities.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and recommend timely decisions.

What you will need to succeed…

  • Engineering Degree in Computer, Process Control or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineering or Professional Licensee status in Canada.
  • Other educational backgrounds will be considered depending on experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in practicing engineering including a minimum of 2 years of networking and cyber security experience with industrial control systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Operational Technology, SCADA and ICS Cyber Security best practices.
  • OSI PI historian, SQL and data analytics.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as MODBUS, ICCP, DNP3, OPC.
  • Experience with control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA, RTU) troubleshooting, upgrades, lifecycle management and interfacing with different vendors.
  • Familiarity with NIST, NERC CIP and other standards related to cyber security and ICS design.
  • Solid understanding of codes and standards related to controls and industrial networks design.
  • Experience with Virtual Machines and server configuration.
  • Experience with Windows server and client OS administration, patching and AntiVirus software.
  • Experience or familiarity with CMMS such as Maximo.
  • Must be able to work alone or as a part of a team.
