Document Control Specialist

On behalf of one of the largest electrical utility companies in Missouri, we are looking for a Document Control Specialist to join their team for a one year contract. They will be responsible for the maintenance and administration of our clients’ records and document management using an electronic drawing/document management system

Duties Include:

  • Ensure that Document/ Drawing Control and Records Management procedures are followed with records and documents generated from project vendors.
  • Ensure Compliance to requirements such as document revision control, record retention protocols, document categorization and electronic document management system standards
  • Administer document control procedures for various projects and departments which includes confidential and public records, distribution lists, and files.
  • Ensure compliance to the guidelines of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) are met
  • Prepare spreadsheets, presentations, and reports as directed. 
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Effectively handle sensitive/confidential information.

Skills Required:

  • 3-5 years of document control experience required, preferably supporting a team of engineering professionals.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of guidelines such as FERC & NERC will be considered a strong asset
  • Great communication, organization, and human relations with the ability to perform work confidentially required.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a team environment.
  • An Associate’s Degree will be considered a strong asset

CAD Technician

  • Under direct supervision, to perform detail Transmission drafting work to create, update and maintain identified drawings; and to do other related drafting work as assigned.
  • In this connection to perform details of work, such as: Draw, update and maintain transmission substation and line drawings, electrical, civil, structural, building and other diagrams associated with transmission design, with computer or, when necessary, by hand.
  • Change drawings to match marked prints or verbal instructions.
  • Create, maintain and prepare special posters, signs, charts, maps or reports when requested.
  • Assist in taking field measurements or sketches at the site to resolve discrepancies on drawings or maps, and/or obtain additional information.
  • Quality and accuracy in updating and maintaining drawings and information.


  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
  • Must have taken some CAD course.

  • MicroStation, AutoCAD, and raster format drawings.
  • Perform red/green line updates and changes to drawings as directed and may be asked to develop new drawings as necessary under the direction of a designer/engineer.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and Excel) is a requirement.
  • Update or create new Microstation CAD drawings as required for design changes, ensuring all design changes meet regulatory, industry, and standards.
  • Provide CAD support as necessary to incorporate red / green line changes from plant marked-up drawings into final design drawings.
  • Must understand or willing to learn the relationship between plant drawings and ensure redline changes are propagated as appropriate to all affected design drawings.
  • Interact with other company functions, vendors, architectural/engineering firms, and other associates in matters related to drafting, CAD files and scanning.


  • Microstation is required for this position/department.
  • Experience with AutoCAD in the field of electrical and/or mechanical drafting is preferred.
