Drilling Supervisor/Superintendent

Our market leading energy client has an immediate need for a Drilling Specialist to join their team in Newfoundland. This a 6-month contract position.

Position Summary

The Drilling Specialist is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day coordination of all rig related operations. This role includes interactions with the rig contractor, 3rd party service companies and the client’s offshore operations team, and carries the responsibility for the safe operations at the rig site with respect to the execution of the work. The Drilling Specialist also ensures the work is conducted in accordance with company policy, the relevant regulations and the particular well program. Offshore travel may be required.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and focus for drilling, completions and subsea operations to ensure a safe, compliant, cost-effective operation that delivers quality wells.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to the drilling superintendent and drilling engineers, drilling supervisors and managers on operations related issues.
  • Demonstrate leadership in the aspects of Safety Management and regulatory compliance.
  • Make technical reviews and evaluations of proposals for drilling equipment and procedures to ensure efficient and economic drilling operations, originate ideas for improvement, recommend new or change procedures, analyze and solve problems, work on special projects, and participate in training engineers and supervisors.
  • Decision making with assessment of the possible risks.
  • Act as a designate for the Drilling Superintendent.
  • Close coordination with Well Design and Reservoir/G&G.

Must Haves

  • 20 years of operational experience in floating drilling and completions activities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of service providers.
  • Ability to work in harsh environments, Deep Water, and HPHT drilling Operations.

Receptionist

Our client, one of Canada’s leading integrated oil companies has an immediate need for a Casual / On Call Receptionist to join their team for an eight (8) month contract position in their St. John’s, Newfoundland office.

Our client is seeking an energetic and outgoing administrative professional for a casual / on call receptionist position.

This position will be a call in role when required and provide vacation coverage as well as backfill coverage as required. Generally, 1 to 2 weeks advance notice will be provided for shifts, however, sometimes there may be a need for coverage on shorter notice. The reception operating hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm NST, with 1 hour for lunch.

In this role, you will report to the Office Services & Facilities Team Lead and will be the first point of contract for visitors to our client’s offices.

CORE RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Greet all incoming visitors
  • Log incoming visitors and issue visitor badges
  • Advise guests of company’s Emergency Evacuation Process
  • Receive and send mail via Canada Post
  • Receive incoming calls and transfer to appropriate personnel
  • Manage personal and shared inbox and direct inquires to appropriate personnel
  • Receive and send courier deliveries; disperse accordingly
  • Order stationary supplies as required (i.e. business cards, letterhead, calendars)
  • Other related duties as required

MUST HAVE Qualifications:

  • Emergency First Aid/Adult CPR
  • 3+ years experience working as an administrative assistant or receptionist
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Able to effectively work as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Working with Jaspersoft Studio 6.4 or higher.
  • SQL programming experience.
  • Converting reports from Crystal Reports to Jaspersoft Reports.
