SUMMARY

Our public sector client in Peterborough is seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful leader with Payrolling experience and expertise in large employee environments.

 

While working with a diverse team, the Payroll Analyst will work in collaboration with all stakeholders and information partners and be committed to data integrity and process improvement. The incumbent will demonstrate an ability to see beyond the numbers while assuming key responsibilities for processing and analyzing payroll data.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analysis of payroll information including investigation, problem solving, presentation and reporting
  • Analyze and reconcile key payroll issues
  • Assists with the ongoing audit and compliance of payroll
  • Collaborates with finance, human resources, and other stakeholders to ensure standard practices, quality assurance and adherence to legislative requirements
  • Team player to support initiatives in payroll and act as a change agent
  • Assist departments with monthly operating payroll account analysis
  • Assists with running bi-weekly payroll in the ERP system
  • Assists with the preparation of payroll related remittances
  • Assists in the yearend financial audit process
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly payroll journal entries
  • Updates the general ledger for both month-end and year-end closing pertaining to all financial sub-systems
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Must Haves

  • Graduate of a post-secondary accounting/business program
  • 3+ years of analytical experience working in finance or payroll
  • Ability to balance multiple work demands to achieve deadlines and reporting requirements
  • Ability to take initiative and act independently using good judgement as well as accept direction
  • Demonstrated experience in variance analysis and account reconciliations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of software packages (i.e. Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point). Advanced excel skills required
  • Experience in report writing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice to Haves

  • Health care sector experience preferred
  • Experience using INFOR and Kronos systems
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Designation

WORKING ARRANGEMENT

  • Hours of work are weekdays. However extra hours may be required to meet workload demands. 
  • Work is performed in an office environment with an option for hybrid work available
  • The on-site location is in Peterborough, Ontario
