Raise is hiring a  Scrum Master for Our Client, a major Canadian airline. This position is a seven (7) month contract located in Calgary, Alberta. We are actively seeking talented professionals like you to drive these crucial initiatives forward.

Description

The Scrum Master in this role will join the Digital Roadmap and Innovation team, and play a pivotal role in shaping the Scrum Master function within the organization, fostering a culture of agility and excellence across the digital product teams. This role is driven by operational need; primarily new digital teams wanting to implement Agile practices into their work to increase product delivery and efficiency

Accountability

  • Facilitate and coach agile teams in adopting and implementing Scrum practices, tailored to each team's unique needs.
  • Champion Agile principles and values, driving continuous improvement and high-performing, self-organizing teams.
  • Guide teams through all Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective) ensuring effective collaboration and focus on delivering customer value.
  • Mentor and coach software development teams, empowering them to tackle complex challenges and deliver business value daily.
  • Act as a servant leader, removing roadblocks and ensuring clear communication between teams and stakeholders.
  • Spearhead the development and operation of an Agile Center of Excellence (CoE).
  • Establish and maintain standardized Agile methodologies within the organization.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to foster a knowledgeable and collaborative Agile community.
  • Mentor and guide other Scrum Masters within the organization.
  • Advise leadership on Agile implementation and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Key Deliverables

• Guide coach, motivate and act as a servant leader for the team with the goal of increasing productivity, engagement and morale

• Mentor and coach software development teams to deliver business value daily

• Organize and facilitate Scrum/ Agile ceremonies, workshops, and training sessions

• Oversee and manage scope, timeline, quality, and deliverables that align with business goals

• Build relationships and collaborate with main stakeholders

• Identify and report on relevant key performance indicators (KPIs)

• Prepare and present reports on the progress and success of the team

• Collaborate with other Scrum Masters on building techniques, ideas, methods and tools.

• Identify and address any obstacles that occur and drive continuous improvement and growth mindset into the delivery teams

• Lead the creation of an Agile Center of Excellence, implementing and standardizing best practices for digital product teams.

• Develop and deliver training programs, acting as a mentor to ensure a consistent understanding of Agile principles across the organization

• Facilitate regular knowledge-sharing sessions, collaborating with external networks to incorporate industry insights into WestJet's Agile practices.

• Implement governance structures and frameworks to ensure compliance with Agile principles and organizational objectives.

• Foster a collaborative community within the Agile CoE through events and forums, celebrating successes and encouraging cross-functional problem-solving.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation and standardize Agile artifacts and processes for transparency and consistency.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and teams, providing guidance on strategic initiatives aligned with Agile principles.

Requirements:

  • 8 years previous experience working with or leading software and/or product development teams
  • Proven experience as a Agile Coach at a senior level (5 to 8 years)
  • In-depth understanding of Scrum principles, practices, and frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of Jira and/or Azure Dev Ops
  • Agile or Scrum certification
  • Experience with Data analysis and visualization( Nice to Have)
  • Experience with product management processes ( Nice to Have)
  • Experience delivering training to a variety of audiences
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to adapt Agile methodologies to different team dynamics and project needs.
  • Experience fostering high-performing, self-organizing teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for continuous learning and improvement.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Bonus points:
    • Experience in the travel industry.
    • Experience establishing and leading an Agile Center of Excellence.
    • Proven ability to develop and deliver Agile training programs.
