Senior Construction and Planning Manger

The Construction Manager and Planning Manager is required to work in the office and manage on site duties. In the office, you are responsible for preparing proposals, bid documents, cost estimates, tracking constructions costs, developing and maintaining internal construction systems and managing all aspects of construction from pre-construction through to closeout all while setting quality standards and managing team collaboration through thoughtful leadership and actions.

On site, you are responsible for all construction and planning teams accountable for all project delivery and performance. You must be able to think strategically, but also execute on the ground level in planning and operations.  This role requires a motivated individual having extensive multi-disciplined leadership experience along with broad project management experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Planning

  • Land development/planning
  • Permit ready – e.g. looking at a farmer’s field, now re-zoned to residential.
  • Strategic thinking regarding design and maximizing space on the land
  • Development permits, land rights, from purchasing the land to starting to build
  • Estimating
  • Manage multidiscipline teams and oversee the construction/build process
  • Manage and oversee after sales service team

Leadership:

  • Supervise junior planners within the company
  • Manage trades during the site servicing phase of development

Operations:

  • Completes due diligence on potential development sites including but not limited to the review of planning approval timelines, constraints, opportunities and potential yield
  • Responsible for the administration and management of various construction projects
  • Work closely with stakeholders to coordinate and ensure the schedule, safety and quality control
  • Work alongside the owner, architects and engineers to facilitate design and construction processes
  • Manage estimating, scheduling, quality control, reporting progress, reviewing and coordinating design and safety coordination
  • Manage the buyout of the project and assist in selecting subcontractors
  • Communicate effectively with all parties involved in the project

 

This is the right job for you because…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – preferred
  • Previously worked as a home builder or owned a home building business
  • C.E.T., Construction Management or another related field – required
  • Estimating experience
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • Proven experience to manage projects full-cycle
  • Technologically savvy
  • Previous experience with residential low-rise and mid-rise (3 stories), freestanding custom homes while working closely with developers
