Our client, an esteemed educational institution, is looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead their Schedule Optimization initiative. This initiative will focus on 3 areas including improve metrics and analytics to support data-informed scheduling and decision-making, inform space utilization optimization and improve class scheduling tools and process efficiency. The Project Manager will be responsible for providing guidance and oversight for all project activities on behalf of our client. This includes working with the solution vendor if required, and business-facing and technical activities assigned to the client's resources. This position is a seven (7) month contract on a hybrid schedule based out of Edmonton, Alberta.

Responsibilities

  • Engagement with departments, faculties and subject matter experts to understand requirements
  • Design and implement a new scheduling optimization solution to support the Office of the Registrar and colleagues
  • Core common processes and functions
  • Faculty or department unique processes and functions
  • Peripheral faculty or department processes
  • Create and execute an organizational change management plan to support the implementation of the project
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, governance, goals and objectives, deliverables, budget, timelines, assumptions and constraints, risks
  • Develop plans for project completion including as appropriate: measures of success, schedule, staffing, budget, quality, communications, risk procurement
  • Secures and manages project resources including people, budget, equipment and tools
  • Manages and reports on the implementation of project plan
  • Validate acceptance of deliverables
  • Ensures operational readiness. Monitors and reports on project and team performance against plans and takes effective corrective action as required
  • Ensures compliance with project management standards through periodic audits, coaching and mentoring
  • Identifies root causes for variances from project parameters like schedule, budget, scope and arbitrates or escalate for efficient resolution

Qualifications

  • Extensive senior project management experience managing complex enterprise solution implementations
  • Considerable experience working in a post-secondary or public sector environment
  • Experience implementing and/or managing solutions that support student services
  • Experience working with and managing multiple business, technical and vendor teams
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with incorporating organizational change management (OCM) strategies and plans as part of overall project delivery
