We’re helping Doosan Babcock hire nuclear professionals for the the Barakah Nuclear power plant in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (UAE) on the Arabian Gulf.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Barakah Nuclear power plant, is the United Arab Emirate’s first nuclear power station.
Located just outside city of Ruwais, the plant is still under construction, and four APR-1400 nuclear reactors are planned to start operation successively from 2020. The Plant’s four APR1400 design nuclear reactors will supply up to 25% of the UAE’s electricity needs once fully operational.
- Plant Net Electric Power: 1400 MW
- Design Life: 60 years
- Core Damage Frequency: Less than 10 to the minus 5th power
- Core Fuel Assemblies: 241
Barakah has over 55 nationalities employed at site, predominantly American, European and Korean. The American population is high and the majority are from the American Nuclear Industry. This population is well established and the majority have spent a significant amount of time on the site. The various populations have established clubs, and social activities.
Because it’s so well located, many of the professionals working at Barakah travel regularly to the major cities of the UAE. With the UAE located in the middle east, many explore the eastern countries which have short flight times, for instance – Goa is a 3.5 hour flight and Maldives are only 4.5 hours away.
