Job Description:

  • Proficiency in the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate, including contract preparation and negotiation, title analysis and survey review.
  • Proficiency in drafting and negotiating commercial leases, licenses, easements, and similar agreements.
  • Manage third-party property matters/issues/disputes involving commercial entities, governmental entities, railroads, and private individuals.
  • Support cross-functional company projects and initiatives impacting National Grids property portfolio.
  • Perform legal research and prepare high-quality legal memoranda.

Qualification

  • Admission to, and in good standing with, the NY and/or MA Bar, preferably both (though candidates who are admitted in either jurisdiction will absolutely be considered).
  • 5-10 years of experience in the practice of commercial real estate law, either in a law firm, as in-house counsel or with a governmental entity.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage and oversee real estate transnational matters from inception through closing, including but not limited to, drafting and negotiating land and facility purchases/sales, leases, easements, licenses, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders in the public and private sector.
  • Experience in the energy/utility/regulated sector a plus, but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.

Planner/Scheduler

We are looking for a Planner/Scheduler on behalf of one of the largest Utility company in Waltham, MA.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop a detailed construction plan that involves planned outages (shutdowns), construction phases, construction steps, material, and equipment requirements, lay down areas, and overall time schedule with final ready for load dates that align with the project plan.
  • Must have the ability to review substation design drawings and provide comments to engineering. Must be able to develop a detailed construction sequence based on the design criteria. Must be able to provide constructive input to the design team in order to identify potential construction issues such as the need for temporary facilities.
  • Provide input to engineering in order to identify potential areas to implement safety by design. Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within the assigned area.
  • Attend site meetings and participate with the project team to evaluate different engineering solutions, construction strategies, and project delivery strategies in order to deliver the project safely and efficiently.
  • Understand collective bargaining agreements that could impact work plan delivery.
  • Develop work plans that are aligned with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure that the execution of the work plans will promote a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff. Collaborate with other groups to ensure system reliability, safety, and efficiency are demonstrated during large scale projects.
  • Review health and safety plans for each specific project, inclusive of Project Hazard Assessment (PHA) for high hazard work practices.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership during all site meetings and project discussions. Lead by example and ensure safety is incorporated into all aspects of the project and the daily job.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 to 8 years of equivalent experience in the electricity construction management environment with 3 to 5 years in utility management.
  • Experience in substation construction with a focus on construction methods, cost control, safety, environmental, quality and service, and performance. Demonstrated knowledge and application of Safety and Environmental rules.
  • Ability to assess potential conflicts by reviewing construction drawings and provide solutions to the project team.
  • Must be able to work in a cross-functional role to develop a construction plan with inputs from the various operations groups, project management, engineering, and dispatch control room.
  • Analytical Thinking: Sees relationships between work plans, safety issues, constructability, and spend vs. efficiency reports identifying several likely causes or consequences of a situation.

Project Manager

Role Summary/Purpose

The Program Manager provides cross-functional program leadership to implement best practice across internal client Warehouse facilities. They achieve this through the broader application of program management practices or principles to ensure the collective set of program related projects achieve stated benefits. They ensure utilization of project management processes and tools to drive high level collaboration and execution. Their function is essential to ensuring teams define and achieve the objectives and goals required to complete projects on time and budget.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a list of dependent projects needed to reach the programs overall goals.
  • Drive high level collaboration and coordination with various business functions or joint development efforts with external parties to facilitate the planning process, setting goals & milestones, and creation of comprehensive timelines considering available resources, dependencies, budget, priorities and other constraints.
  • Manage 100+ individual implementations across a 12-month period.
  • Define, capture, and action project and product risks
  • Take ownership of tracking overall team progress and provide detailed management status reports, including KPIs.
  • Organize regular team meetings to monitor progress, track and mitigate risks, resolve/escalate issues, and review action items.
  • Generate the necessary documentation and assist teams with creating project plans, protocols, reports etc.
  • Take ownership of hands-on management and tracking of overall team progress and provide detailed management status reports and updates.
  • Interface with external partners and facilitate joint development efforts
  • Drive and action Lessons Learned to improve both program and project delivery
  • Monitor and track against benefit targets
  • Report program status to senior leadership on a bi-weekly basis

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of program management experience preferably in Supply Chain related activities
  • Certification or formal training in Program or Project Management and experience using a resource management tools is a big plus.
  • Strong preference for understanding of Lean 5S methodology

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Experience compiling GANTT charts and project plans.
  • Experience with project management tools such as MS Project or other.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in addition to having the ability to effectively communicate within the project teams as well as to top level management.
  • Excellent organization and time management/multi-tasking skills (comfortable in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment, operating at both strategic and tactical levels).
  • Experience with direct resource management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team.
  • Ability to motivate a team to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Ability to strive strategic vision

  • Duties are typically performed in an office setting but can require 25% travel to visit other company locations

Maps and Records Technician

Do you want to work for one of the largest “Utility” company in New York? They are currently looking for an “Maps and Record Technician” to support their facility in Syracuse, NY.  If you’re interested and qualified, we urge you to apply!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contractor (separate from the contractor who performs the virtual walk down and validation phases) will perform a quality control / quality assurance step on the feeder, ensuring that the proposed modifications are accurate based on the QAQC Status assigned to the Virtual Walk Down person. Corrections to the feeder will be sent back to the person assigned the Virtual Walk Down / Validation steps for corrections. Contractor will prepare and send to the Maps & Records SharePoint site (i) all Index Map changes and (ii) complex changes.
  • QAQC Contractor resource will close out a feeder by posting the Smallworld GIS modifications within the Smallworld GIS system when a feeder has been determined to be clean of any issues / discrepancies. The QAQC Contractor will notify the DP&I department that a feeder is closed, enabling the DP&I department to continuously monitor that feeder for any modifications in the future.
  • More electric distribution experience requested as compared to ARCGIS experience. We can teach the ARCGIS experience, but the electric experience is valuable when a virtual walk down of the electricity distribution system occurs to confirm the connectivity model. The connectivity model is a simple way of indicating that all the components on the electric distribution system align.

Experience Required:

  • Hands on experience working with Electric utility GIS models and systems – Smallworld or ESRI
  • Proven experience working with diverse teams to gather information in support of job duties

Desired:

  • Electric distribution experience/knowledge is requested, but not required.
  • GIS experience – not a necessity but it does help with the process of using the tools
  • When the contractor is reviewing the asset on the poles and comparing it's very helpful
  • to have knowledge of electrical distribution.

Education:

  • BA degree or equivalent experience
  • MA degree is overqualified
  • Independent worker is valuable
