Role Summary/Purpose:

Project Controls Schedule Analysts oversee the delivery of projects within Capital Delivery from a schedule management perspective. Utilizing Primavera P6 the schedule analysts will monitor, update, and apply project controls techniques to ensure scope, schedule, and budget adherence.

  • 5+ years of experience in project management, construction or schedule management or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or significant relevant project management, engineering and construction experience.
  • Expert using Primavera to create project plans and progress them using a pre-defined work breakdown structure
  • Expert using Primavera to optimize the performance of a portfolio of projects and familiar with the issues that arise on projects and how to overcome them.
  • Considerable proven experience and expert knowledge in schedule development and analysis including milestone management, critical path analysis, understanding of float and time risk allowance and earned value methodologies.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative, integrity and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors and regulatory representative

Job Purpose:

Serve as a Project Engineer supporting the development, design, and implementation of complex projects for our natural gas assets.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop engineering designs for Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution Pipelines, Pressure Regulating Stations, Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) plants and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facilities and fueling stations.

  • Work with contracted engineers to develop designs for large-scale complex projects.
  • Ensure installations are in accordance with federal, state, and local codes as well as National Grid policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the design process and installation are in accordance with National Grid Process Safety policies and procedures.
  • Support the development of project estimates and other project-related documentation.
  • Identify and acquire the necessary permits and authorizations for the project.
  • Specify and order non-stock materials.
  • Review, approve, and document Certified Material Test Records.
  • Write technical specifications and scopes of work for bid events to support the Procurement process.
  • Review engineering related RFIs and submittals during construction.

Supervisory / Interpersonal Experience Required

  • Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively across organizations within National Grid, as well as interfacing with external stakeholders and permitting authorities.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technology degree from an ABET accredited or equivalent engineering school.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant technical engineering experience.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects within budget and time constraints.

Telecommunications Planning Engineer

We are looking for a Telecommunications Planning Engineer who will be responsible for the planning of our clients’ Operational Telecommunications Networks and Systems.

The successful candidate will scope for cost effective, secure, scalable, compliant & reliable telecommunications solutions.  The solutions may involve private radio networks & systems, fiber optic networks & systems, microwave networks & systems, smart grid communications networks, leased wired & wireless telecom services.  

Duties Include:

  • Participate in telecom-driven capital projects
  • Lead interdisciplinary technical teams through the optioneering process, develop project scopes, cost estimates and project schedules
  • Coordinate, plan, update, and drive all telecom projects and related activities
  • Capture & analyze current and evolving telecom requirements from internal and external stakeholders, keep up to date with telecom technologies and solutions, and keep up to date with regulations
  • Provide planning and engineering services for radio, microwave, and fiber optic networks & systems to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Use strategic asset management techniques to prioritize assets and identify risks
  • Develop informed, comprehensive technical asset plans for maintenance and capital investment in order to improve business performance in the medium (up to five years) and longer term (up to 15 years.)
  • Recommend asset condition based capital projects to management and seek approval from external stakeholders
  • Provide input for medium and long term capital budgetary planning
  • Develop and implement processes, tools and documentation
  • Support or lead development of technical policies relating to telecommunications assets
  • Research new technologies, investigate implementation strategies, and drive the conceptual development of innovative projects/solutions.

Skills Required:

  • Minimum BS degree in Engineering
  • 6+ years experience a telecommunications engineering field
  • Demonstrated negotiating and influencing skills with the ability to make persuasive presentations to small and large audiences
  • Familiarity with NPLS, Cyber Security, Network Operations, IP Networking, NERC Transmission Planning Standards, NPCC Criteria and ISO and State level Transmission Planning rules
  • Ability to interpret results and recommendations from transmission asset engineering reports and transmission system analytical studies.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to prioritize work and be a team member on multiple projects at one time.
  • Consistently adapts the content / style of a message, based on an understanding of the climate and culture of a particular group and what will produce the best response

  • Facilitate and encourage the introduction of new technologies and innovative solutions to improve the delivery of NY Electric capital projects safely, on time, and in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ year experience in electric operations engineering, project management, utility construction or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree required in an engineering discipline and/or significant relevant project management, engineering and construction experience in all aspects of utility natural gas construction operations. Master’s degree in engineering discipline, MBA or relevant equivalent preferred.
  • Preference given to candidates with a Professional Engineers license and/or Certified Project Management Professional.
  • Considerable proven experience in direct project development and design including milestone management, resourcing, affordability, risk management, reporting and possess team leadership and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative, integrity and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner.
  • Knowledge of electrical system operations, engineering, environmental, engineering economics, and familiarity with legal, purchasing, and utility accounting regulations.
